Carissimi,
nell'ambito del progetto Horizon Europe “CrAFt – Creating Actionable Futures” (https://craft-cities.eu), a cui il Dipartimento di Architettura (DA) dell’Università di Bologna (UNIBO) sta partecipando come partner sotto il coordinamento scientifico della Prof.ssa Annarita Ferrante, siamo felici di invitare gli studenti dei corsi di studio afferenti ai dipartimenti UNIBO di Architettura, Ingegneria, Design, ed Ingegneria Ambientale, a partecipare all’iniziativa: "Creative Participatory Lab 2024’’.
Lo scopo dell’iniziativa è di promuovere la creazione di STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Teams per lo svolgimento di attività interdisciplinari e partecipative, in sinergia tra diversi ambiti di studio e progetti locali ed europei.

Nello specifico, il DA, in collaborazione con il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile, Chimica, Ambientale e dei Materiali (DICAM), sta organizzando un laboratorio della durata di quattro giorni, che si svolgerà dal 02 al 05 dicembre 2024, dedicato allo svolgimento di azioni collaborative e creative all’interno dell’università e non SOLO!
Confronti e dibattiti aperti sui processi del progetto europeo “CrAFt”, camminate performative, esperienze sensoriali, laboratori co-creativi e scambio di idee: questi saranno gli ingredienti principali per la creazione di uno STEAM Team innovativo!
Gli eventi comprendono una serie di incontri che si svolgeranno in presenza presso varie sedi UNIBO, e una study visit presso DumBO space.

Chi può partecipare?
Studenti iscritti alle scuole di UNIBO nei seguenti ambiti: Architettura, Ingegneria Civile, Ingegneria Ambientale, Design.

Una lite fra due bambini provoca un incontro fra i genitori, che, prima benevolmente tollerante, prende poi una deriva inaspettata in un crescendo sempre più feroce di accuse reciproche. La regia di Roman Polanski va oltre la dimensione teatrale dell’opera da cui è tratto il film: gli interni borghesi, impeccabili e apparentemente neutri consentono di esaltare la feroce commedia che vi si svolge, mentre le inquadrature strette e claustrofobiche costringono lo spettatore a seguire questa acuta - e talvolta cinica - esplorazione dell’animo umano.

An argument between two children provokes a meeting between the parents, which, at first benevolently tolerant, then takes an unexpected turn in an increasingly fierce crescendo of mutual accusations. Roman Polanski's direction goes beyond the theatrical dimension of the work from which the film is based: the impeccable and apparently neutral bourgeois interiors allow the fierce comedy that takes place there to be enhanced, while the tight and claustrophobic shots force the viewer to follow this acute - and sometimes cynical - exploration of the human soul.

L'abulico e sonnacchioso Pentothal, il nomade Enrico Fiabeschi e il crudele Zanna, "straccioni con la fierezza dei perdenti", escono dalle tavole del loro geniale creatore per materializzarsi in una pellicola che segue ventiquattro ore della loro vita in un appartamento della Bologna movimentista e creativa del '77. Interni apparentemente anonimi ed “innocui” sono teatro di vicende apocalittiche e irreversibili, caos e ordine, conflitti e armonie di spazi, oggetti, stili e vite che si rincorrono continuamente. Il film diventa un’occasione per riflettere sugli spazi dedicati all’educazione, sulle condizioni degli alloggi per studenti, strategie di post-occupancy e la vita universitaria a Bologna.

The abulic and somnambulant Pentothal, the nomadic Enrico Fiabeschi and the cruel Zanna, ‘ragamuffins with the pride of losers’, leave the boards of their brilliant creator to materialise in a film that follows twenty-four hours of their lives in a flat in the movementist and creative Bologna of ‘77. Seemingly anonymous and ‘harmless’ interiors are the scene of apocalyptic and irreversible events, chaos and order, conflicts and harmonies of spaces, objects, styles and lives that chase each other continuously. The film becomes an opportunity to reflect on the spaces dedicated to education, the conditions of student accommodation, post-occupancy strategies and university life in Bologna.

Dodici giurati devono decidere il destino di un ragazzo accusato di parricidio. Uno di essi (Henry Fonda, in uno dei suoi ruoli chiave) instilla il dubbio. La parola e il raziocinio portano la verità e schiantano il pregiudizio. Straordinaria la tensione che si crea in unità temporale e in un'unica stanza, mentre fuori scroscia la pioggia dell'estate newyorkese; Sidney Lumet usa l’architettura in modo quasi espressionista per rendere letterale, attraverso un meccanismo scenografico-architettonico, il senso dell’avvicinarsi di una fine che sembra inevitabile. Nella ricostruzione degli eventi, un ragionamento su struttura e orientamento degli spazi diventa fondamentale per la svolta narrativa.

Twelve jurors must decide the fate of a boy accused of patricide. One of them (Henry Fonda, in one of his key roles) instils doubt. Speech and reasoning bring truth and crush prejudice. The tension that is created in the unity of time and in a single room, while outside the rain of the New York summer is pelting down; Sidney Lumet uses architecture in an almost expressionist manner to render literal, through a scenographic-architectural mechanism, the sense of the approach of an end that seems inevitable. In the reconstruction of events, reasoning about the structure and orientation of spaces becomes fundamental to the narrative turn.

Una famiglia di umiliati e offesi, letteralmente confinata al sottosuolo metropolitano, entra in modo ingannevole nella vita di una famiglia ricca e ‘collinare'. Seguiranno conquiste, sconfitte, tragedie e colpi di scena. B**g Joon-ho mescola spietata analisi sociale e divertissement macabro, senza rinunciare alla sua proverbiale fantasia narrativa. Il film fa leva proprio sull’architettura degli spazi interni (dal seminterrato alla villa) per mostrare, a tinte forti e nette, una versione aggiornata del conflitto di classe. Un esplicito Tableau de Paris in versione asiatica che interroga lo spettatore su quanto gli ambienti che abitiamo ci definiscano o meno, se siano o meno una proiezione di chi siamo.

A family of the humiliated and wronged, literally confined to the metropolitan underground, deceptively enters the life of a wealthy, 'hillbilly' family. Conquests, defeats, tragedies and plot twists follow. B**g Joon-ho mixes ruthless social analysis and macabre divertissement, without renouncing his proverbial narrative imagination. The film makes use of the architecture of the interior spaces (from the basement to the villa) to show an updated version of class conflict in strong, sharp colours. An explicit Tableau de Paris in an Asian version that questions the viewer as to whether or not the environments we inhabit define us, whether or not they are a projection of who we are.

Nel mese di maggio si svolgerà la terza edizione della Rassegna Cinema & Architettura, dal titolo “Il Mondo in una Stanza”, nata dalla collaborazione del Dipartimento di Architettura e la Cineteca di Bologna. La rassegna quest’anno si terrà negli spazi del Cinema Modernissimo.
Il tema di questa edizione si concentra sulla domesticità quotidiana e sugli interni - stanza, casa, appartamento o altro luogo che rientri nel concetto di "interno" – come motori e/o supporti attivi delle vicende narrate o del loro taglio. Trascorriamo una larga parte delle nostre vite in spazi interni, ma raramente riflettiamo sull’influenza che hanno nell’organizzazione e nello svolgimento del nostro agire quotidiano e sociale. Come scriveva il saggista e filosofo Siegfried Kracauer: “ogni spazio tipico è determinato da condizioni sociali tipiche, che in esso si esprimono senza l'intervento disturbante di una coscienza. Tutto ciò che viene negato dalla coscienza, tutto ciò che altrimenti viene deliberatamente trascurato, è coinvolto nella sua costruzione.”
Nel corso della rassegna, professori del dipartimento di Architettura introdurranno i seguenti film, dando una lettura in chiave architettonica alle pellicole.

***Cinema & Architecture Film Festival– The World in a Room
From the 2ndto the 29th May, 5 projections at the cinema Modernissimo***

The third edition of the Cinema & Architecture Film Festival, entitled "The World in a Room" in going to start. This edition has been born out of a collaboration between the Department of Architecture and the Cineteca di Bologna and it will take place at the Cinema Modernissimo.
The theme of this edition focuses on the concept of everyday domesticity and interiors. This encompasses room, house, flat or any other place that falls within the concept of "interior". It is these spaces that act as motors and/or active supports of the narrated events or their cut. The majority of our lives are spent in interior spaces, yet we rarely consider the influence these environments have on our everyday and social actions. As the essayist and philosopher Siegfried Kracauer wrote: "Every typical space is determined by typical social conditions, which are expressed in it without the disturbing intervention of a consciousness. Everything that is denied by consciousness, everything that is otherwise deliberately neglected, is involved in its construction."
During this review, professors from the Department of Architecture will introduce the following films, offering an architectural interpretation of the films.
