This is the Official Page of the LSC Programme of the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna and aims at keeping all students updated with all news regarding the Degree and other related opportunities. The Master’s Degree in Language, Society and Communication aims at providing students with a high competency in at least two languages of international communication. The great practical competency – both written and oral – goes with a deep language knowledge that allows students to know and interpret the sociolinguistic codes involved in an intercultural communicative situation. Students are also provided with specific knowledge in the fields of linguistics, philology and intercultural communication, as well as in the production of written and oral texts belonging to different genres. The Master’s Degree prepares students to become: 1) Language and Cultural Experts in International Relations, and 2) Multiple Language-Editor/Sub-Editor in the publishing sphere. To this extent the learning activities – besides linguistic disciplines – face the main cultural, historical and social issues and aim at developing a great knowledge of economical and juridical disciplines. The main specific learning outcomes are: the acquisition of a deep competency of theoretical and practical instruments to decode and produce specialized texts – both written and oral – which can be used in international communication, as well as their implementation at the Information Technology level.

Information meeting on Overseas Call for applications 2027/28

Through the Overseas programme it is possible to study one or two semesters in the a.y. 2027/2028 as an exchange student at one of our institution’s partner universities located in countries outside of the European Union.

The next call for applications for the Overseas study-abroad programme will be published within the first half of October 2026.

In order to get information about the Overseas program it is very important to attend the online information meetings held via ZOOM, which will take place from 16 to 23 October (the dates of the meetings may be subject to change). Each meeting will focus on specific geographical areas. More information here:

TPER and Start Romagna bus subsidies

Unibo students can purchase annual public transport passes for Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini at subsidised prices.

Do you travel around Bologna and the surrounding area? You can apply for a discounted annual TPER pass. If your ISEE is up to €35,000, you may be eligible for an additional discount.

Until 15 December, 2026, students enrolled in first cycle, second cycle, and single cycle degree programmes, exchange, PhD, master's degree and specialisation school students can purchase annual bus passes for the Bologna area or extra-urban including Zone 3 (which includes Ozzano), at subsidised rates.

Call for applications for MAECI internships - Deadline 28 September

The Call for applications for 377 curricular internships at embassies, permanent missions to international organizations, consulates, and Italian Cultural Institutes (IIC) is now online.

The internship will take place from January 11 to April 9, 2027.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on September 28, 2026, exclusively online via the application portal.

How to write your thesis - Guidance meeting

On Wednesday, 23.09.2026, from 5 to 6.30 p.m., the Course of Study in Language, Society and Communication promotes a meeting focused on the final phase of the study path.

Some students about to graduate or recently graduated will talk about some central issues such as the choice of topic, bibliographic research, time management during the drafting phase and so on.

Call for applications Almacert 2026

Call for applications for a grant toward fees for international language certificates awarded between 07/11/2025 - 15/09/2026.

The grant consists of a contribution towards the exam to obtain one of the international language certificates listed in the table in Annex 1 to this Call.

The amount of the grant (€150, €200 or €250) is given in the same table. Contributions will be granted until the allocated fund is fully
exhausted.

Call for applications for subsidies to purchase annual TPER passes for the a.y. 2026/27

TPER S.p.A. and Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna have entered into an agreement to help students purchase travel passes for use on urban and suburban public transport.

In particular, TPER grants students of the University of Bologna discounted rates on annual urban and extra‑urban public
transport passes.

The University of Bologna will provide a further grant to a maximum of 4000 students selected through this call for applications who will be able to purchase the abovementioned travel pass with a discount of € 100.

The deadline for applying is 24/09/2026 at 3 p.m.

Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna has issued a call for applications for the award of no. 327 grants, amounting to €2,000.00 each, to assist students enrolled at the University of Bologna for the a.y. 2025/2026, who are experiencing particular personal, family and economic hardship such as to jeopardise the continuation of their studies.

Call for applications for MUR grants to cover accommodation costs for students living away from home for the a.y. 2025/2026

To take part in this competition, you must be enrolled for the a.y. 2025/2026 in a degree programme at the University of Bologna and be up to date with the payment of any student fees.
