The Master in Critical Creative Practices at the Faculty of Design and Art, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz), is pleased to announce the Fall Lecture Series 2026, a cycle of public lectures bringing together international practitioners whose work engages critically with contemporary questions across art, architecture, technology, ecology, and visual culture.

The 2026 edition features lectures by Paula Strunden (October 13), Mireia Luzárraga—TAKK (November 25), and Emilio Vavarella (December 14).

The countdown begins: the Diplorama exhibition opens in just over a month! Assume Nothing brings together the graduation projects presented over the past academic year. Curated in collaboration with Zasha Colah and Chiara Siravo, the exhibition will take place during Bolzano Art Week, at our Faculty and at the Galleria Civica in Piazza Domenicani. More info coming soon!

Dear Faculty community,

We are pleased to invite you to the next session of the AI Dialogue Series: AI in Architecture and Music, organized by Dr. Mustapha El Moussaoui under Studium Generale.

For this session, we are honored to welcome Prof. Neil Leach, one of the most influential voices in contemporary architectural theory and digital design, for a lecture titled:

Alien Intelligence: An Introduction to AI for Architects

What exactly is AI? How did it evolve? And what potential does it have to reshape architecture and society?

In this thought-provoking lecture, Neil Leach will take us on a journey through the past, present, and future of artificial intelligence, exploring both its extraordinary possibilities and its more unsettling implications. The talk concludes with a provocative proposition: that humanity may soon encounter a radically different form of intelligence, an “alien intelligence” capable of exceeding human cognitive capacities and fundamentally transforming the discipline of architecture.

The session will be moderated by Mustapha El Moussaoui, Ph.D.

We are pleased to invite you to the AI Dialogue Series organised by Dr. Mustapha El Moussaoui within the Studium Generale programme.

The Series aims at expanding and critically engaging contemporary thought on artificial intelligence. All are invited to attend and contribute to an open and rigorous discussion on the role of AI as a tool and epistemic condition. These talks are part of the AI Cultures CoLab initiatives of our faculty and are shared with the SUNRISE alliance.

Series 1: AI in Architecture and Music

Session 1

This first session features Matias del Campo presenting The Séance of Inference. The lecture positions design as a negotiation with systems that predict, infer, and recombine, reframing AI-assisted architecture as a ritual encounter with latent histories embedded within generative models. It questions what remains of architectural agency when form emerges through probabilistic processes already saturated with precedent.

The talk explores convivial ground as an experimental, materially rooted and transdisciplinary space of consent-based co-creation.

Alex Roemer, architect, designer and carpenter, Alexander Römer initiated the international design-build network Constructlab in 2012 as a member of the former EXYZT collective (2005 - 2013). Constructlab is a laboratory for action research, constructive experimentation and interdisciplinary creation.
