In a world driven by information, learning how to read and represent it is essential.

This is a glimpse of the Information Design & Visual Storytelling course at UNIBZ's Master in Eco-Social Design, featuring both posters and data physicalizations created by students during the winter semester.

La mostra This is the place — Libraries to stay, to speak, to play, and also to read esplora la biblioteca come spazio sociale vivo, ispirandosi a esempi in Danimarca, nei Paesi Bassi e in Spagna, dove il sapere viene condiviso, discusso e prodotto collettivamente.

Nelson Chan was born in New Jersey to immigrant parents from Hong Kong and Taiwan and has spent most of his life between the United States and Hong Kong. Growing up on two continents with distinct cultural identities, his immigrant experience has profoundly shaped much of his work.
He received his BFA and MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and the Hartford Art School, respectively. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at institutions such as the Museum of Chinese in America (New York, NY); the Boston Center for the Arts (Boston, MA); The Print Center (Philadelphia, PA); Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin, Germany); and 798 Space (Beijing, China). His books are held in the institutional libraries of The Met, the Guggenheim, SFMOMA, the Whitney Museum, the Harry Ransom Center, and MoMA, among others.
Nelson is a co-founder of the Brooklyn-based TIS Books, an art book publishing house specializing in small-edition photobooks. From 2016 to 2019, he served as production manager at the Aperture Foundation.
In 2025, Nelson was awarded tenure at the California College of the Arts but ultimately left the Bay Area to join the Rhode Island School of Design, where he teaches as an associate professor of photography.
