Funded by the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the MedRESOURCE project brings together partners from Italy, Palestine, Tunisia, and Jordan, building on long-standing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation among research centres, public bodies, and technical organisations.
In this interview, Professor Perelli highlights how MedRESOURCE builds on previous cooperation experiences—particularly the MEDISS project—to move from pilot solutions toward scalable, transferable, and policy-relevant approaches for wastewater sludge management.
🌱 The discussion explores:
The roots of international cooperation and trust within the partnership
Environmental and agricultural challenges in nitrate-vulnerable and climate-sensitive areas such as Arborea (Sardinia)
The role of Living Labs, capacity building, and policy dialogue in maximizing project impact
Turning wastewater sludge into a valuable resource to improve soil quality, reduce pollution, and support sustainable agriculture
MedRESOURCE demonstrates how science, institutions, and local stakeholders can work together to transform environmental challenges into opportunities for long-term resilience.
