🥁 Il 30 marzo verrà inaugurata la mostra “Lives Carved in Code. AI Rendered Egyptian Artifacts Across Time”, organizzata da Sarah Abdoh, Professore associato presso il "Sculpture, Architectural Formation and Restoration Department", Faculty of Applied Arts, BU, Egitto.

🥁 On March 30, the exhibition “Lives Carved in Code: AI Rendered Egyptian Artifacts Across Time” will be inaugurated. The exhibition is organized by Sarah Abdoh, Associate Professor in the Department of Sculpture, Architectural Formation and Restoration at the Faculty of Applied Arts, BU, Egypt.

✨ The exhibition explores the intersection of ancient Egyptian heritage and contemporary digital creation. Through AI generated 3D replicas, it brings to life objects that once shaped the daily and ritual worlds of pharaohs, nobles, and common people alike.

🏺 Each artifact, reconstructed in digital space, becomes both a remembrance of the past while at the same time questioning the nature of authenticity, memory, and materiality, inviting reflection on how history can be preserved, interpreted, and reimagined.

📌 We look forward to seeing you on March 30 at 12:00 PM at Palazzo Ingrassia, in the Vincenzo La Rosa lecture hall, and afterwards at the MAUC (Museum of Archaeology of the University of Catania), Via Biblioteca 4, Catania.

✨ SCAPECON 8 is getting closer! ✨
With only a few months to go, and while we are finalising the conference programme, we are thrilled to start introducing our keynote speakers.

We are delighted to announce that the first keynote speaker of SCAPECON 8 will be Ann Brysbaert.

Ann Brysbaert is Professor of Ancient Technologies, Materials and Crafts in the East Mediterranean at KU Leuven (Belgium). She previously served as Director of the Netherlands Institute at Athens (2022–2025), alongside her role as Professor at Leiden University (2018–2025).

Her work at the intersection of materials, technology, and ancient societies makes her contribution to SCAPECON 8 particularly exciting, and we very much look forward to welcoming her to Catania.
