The third workshop, organized jointly by the FARE-SCRENIM and ERC Graff-IT projects and held in Viterbo from May 27 to 29, ended with a visit to sites of graffiti-related interest, namely the City Museum of Viterbo, the ancient prisons of Vetralla, and the Ave Maria Chapel in the countryside near Vetralla. Thanks to Paola Pogliani and Francesco Cardarelli (University of Tuscia), Elisabetta De Minicis (Museo della Città e del Territorio, Vetralla), Daniela Venanzi and Sandrino Aquilani (Municipality of Vetralla), and Luigi De Simone (Agriturismo “Il Marrugio”). Finally, special thanks to Rocco D'Errico, who produced a remarkable photographic series in the prisons and in the Ave Maria Chapel in Vetralla.

Thanks to the contribution of the Graff-IT Project, restoration works on the historical graffiti of the Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice have been successfully completed in recent days.
Under the supervision of Prof. Francesca Malagnini, the initiative aimed to preserve and enhance an important collection of written traces that are part of Venice’s historical and cultural heritage.
The restoration works were carried out by the Venice-based company LARES.
The results of the restoration works will be publicly presented on September 19, during a study day organized by the Archeoclub and the Associazione Ekos of Venice.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the fourth edition of Urbs Scripta – Festival dei Graffiti di Venezia (14–17 May 2026), a festival dedicated to the discovery and enhancement of Venice’s historical graffiti heritage.
Among this year’s initiatives are guided tours, workshops, cultural events, and the first Tria tournament played on the ancient gaming boards engraved on the stones of Venice.
Graff-IT Project is pleased to support the festival as an official sponsor, contributing to the promotion and study of written traces and graffiti culture in historical contexts.

The 2026 cycle of Graff-IT Seminars will resume on May 27 with the talk “Voci ritrovate. Materialità e significati delle scritture carcerarie” by Antonio Castillo Gómez (University of Alcalá de Henares).
