INTERNATIONAL PRIZE DOMUS RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION_THESES DIVISION

The International Architectural Restoration Prize entitled “Fassa Bortolo Domus Restoration and Preservation”, conceived and promoted since 2010 by Fassa S.p.A. owner of the “Fassa Bortolo” brand, and by the Ferrara University - Department of Architecture in occasion of the celebration of its twentieth anniversary, was established for the purpose of rewarding and promote to the general public architectural restoration works that best managed to interpret preservation principles shared by the scientific community, also resorting to contemporary forms of expression.

The prize is held annually and is divided into two sections, alternating every other year:
• “Built Projects” section: designers from both the private and public sectors, and restoration companies that
completed the works will be awarded with Gold and Silver medals;
• “Undergraduate, Graduate, Master, PhD, and Graduate School Theses” section: Gold and Silver medals will be
appointed to candidates whose projects will be considered by the jury to be award-worthy for specific aspects.

For the Sixth Edition in 2016, the competing category will be “Undergraduate, Graduate, Master, PhD, and Graduate School Theses”.

Candidacies to the Award can be submitted by single participants or by groups that have discussed a "thesis" within the last five years, after completing their studies with a University Degree in Architecture, Engineering-Architecture, or equivalent European educational courses.
As specified in the title, Undergraduate, Graduate, Master, PhD, and Graduate School “Theses” can compete.
If case of Undergraduate and Graduate Thesis, the candidate must have obtained a mark superior or equal to 100/110.

Candidacies to the Prize can be submitted by filling out the specific electronic form at the website www.premiorestauro.it before the 11/14/2016 deadline.

INTERNATIONAL PRIZE DOMUS RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION_SPECIAL PRIZE FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION

From this year on, together with the "Undergraduate, Graduate, Master, PhD, and Graduate School Theses” edition, a Special Prize for International Education will be introduced, as a section conceived in order to award and promote courses, laboratories or workshops held outside Italy in Architecture Faculties or Departments and Institutes of Fine Arts and give an appropriate reward also to those educational courses carried out through collective contributions.

The competition is focused on preservation of significant human artifacts and material and immaterial heritage, e.g.:

- archaeological sites

- urban areas

- areas hit by earthquakes

- cultural landscapes

Candidacies are open to Coordinators, Directors, Professors, and Lecturers appointed for teaching conservative disciplines in an international Undergraduate, Graduate, Master, Graduate School course or Workshop, in historical context outside Italy.

Only for this very section, payment of registration fee is NOT expected. The winner will receive a prize of Euros 1.000,00, which will be assigned to the Institution organizing and hosting the course.

In order to represent the activity of the course, the professor should make a selection of works developed by the students during the last 3 years, sending three free assembled A1 vertical panels.

- Documents submission 12/04/2016

The winners will be invited to attend the grand ceremony, where they will be awarded and will present their works. Furthermore, winning projects and works will be exhibited at the XXIV Salone dell’Arte del Restauro e della Conservazione in Ferrara (22nd-24th of March 2017).

All the colleagues interested in competing can register their course/laboratory/workshop completing the online form.
