As Bronzini interns at the Medici Archive Project's (MAP) Center for Women in Renaissance Archives, current grads Katie Vogel, Isabella Kershner, and Natali Muñoz pursued different research projects focused on the history and content of Cristofano Bronzini's 17th-century "On the Dignity and Nobility of Women." They also held different roles in the Center's day-to-day operations, such as developing a finding aid for the digitized text of Bronzini's multi-volume treatise, updating web pages, and developing social media posts.
Last Thursday, they presented their work via Zoom to a small group of Medici Archive Project and Florence Graduate Program administrators and affiliates including their Bronzini project supervisor, Dr. Sheila Barker, and Profs. Molly Bourne ('88) and Sally Cornelison ('89).
According to Katie, Isabella, and Natali: "It has been such a valuable experience to work on projects with immediate value to the center's mission of expanding access to archival information about women of the past, and to develop the paleographical skills required to work with an unpublished manuscript as important as Bronzini’s text. It was particularly exciting to see the overlap in our individual research and to work together to shape the codicological evidence from the manuscripts into public-facing platforms and research tools that increase the accessibility of Bronzini's work to future scholars."
