Istituto Iseo is a non profit cultural institution aimed at promoting the discussion on global economy issues around the world. Upon Franco's death, Prof. P.S.

I.S.E.O Institute (Institute for Studies on Economics and Employment) is a non profit association based in the lovely town of Iseo (Northern Italy) and founded in 1998 by Nobel Laureate in Economics Franco Modigliani. Robert Solow (Nobel Laureate in Economics 1987) accepted with great enthusiasm to chair the Institute Modigliani founded and therefore to carry on his work. The main goal of the asso

ciation is that of promoting the analysis and the discussion about the world economy, focusing the interest on topics which are also connected to social aspects such as development, growth and employment issues. The main activity of the Institute consists of promoting international conferences based on the most topical issues related to global economy. Furthermore, I.S.E.O Institute became wellknown in the worldwide academic scenario thanks to its international Summer School: this summer course, whose firts edition took place in Iseo in 2004, takes place every year in June and features Nobel Laureates in Economics as lecturers. Since its foundation, I.S.E.O Institute featured more than 30 Nobel Prizes during conferences, meetings and Summer Schools. Iseo is: the name of the town, the name of the lake and the acronym which stands for Institute for Studies on Economics and Employment.

That's a wrap!
The 22nd edition of the I.S.E.O. Summer School has come to a close, and what a remarkable week it has been.
From outstanding lectures to memorable moments in Iseo, this unique experience was made possible by an extraordinary community of participants, speakers, partners, and supporters.
Our sincere thanks to Michael Spence, James Heckman, Kamiar Mohaddes, Lisandra Flach, Valentina Bosetti, Robert Wescott, and Christopher Rauh for sharing their knowledge, insights, and time with our participants.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 100 participants from 41 countries around the world for joining us. You made this the most attended edition in our history!
A special thank you to the staff of the Iseolago Hotel for their support throughout the year, and to Cristina Ziliani and Berlucchi for their exceptional hospitality and continued friendship.

The lectures go on at the 22nd edition of the I.S.E.O. Summer School with Robert F. Wescott, Founder and Senior Advisor at Keybridge Research and former economic adviser to President Bill Clinton, and Valentina Bosetti, Professor of Environmental Economics and Climate Change at Bocconi University.

Professor Wescott shared his insights on the global economic outlook and international policy challenges, while Professor Bosetti explored some of the most pressing issues related to climate economics and sustainable development.

Another inspiring day at the 2026 I.S.E.O. Summer School.

This morning, James J. Heckman, recipient of the 2000 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, delivered a lecture to our participants, sharing insights from his pioneering research and decades of contributions to economics.

In the afternoon, Lisandra Flach, Professor at LMU Munich and Head of the ifo Center for International Economics, led a stimulating discussion on international trade and the challenges facing the global economy.

As tradition dictates, the 2026 edition of the I.S.E.O. Summer School officially opened with a lecture by Michael Spence, Honorary Chairman of Fondazione I.S.E.O. and recipient of the 2001 Nobel Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.

Professor Spence welcomed 100 participants from 41 countries and shared his insights on the major economic challenges and opportunities shaping the future.

The second lecture was delivered by Kamiar Mohaddes (University of Cambridge), who engaged participants in a thought-provoking discussion on uncertainty, sustainability, and the economic implications of climate change.

An inspiring start to a week of learning, dialogue, and international exchange.

Our participants enjoyed his lectures so much that we simply had to invite him back once again.

Professor Kamiar Mohaddes is Director of the climaTRACES Lab at the University of Cambridge, where he focuses on macroeconomics of sustainability, climate change, and external shocks. He is Director of the Global Executive MBA programme and Fellow in Economics at King’s College, Cambridge. Professor Mohaddes collaborates extensively with international institutions, including the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and leading private-sector organizations.

His research covers climate change, sustainability, energy economics, innovation, and applied macroeconomics, with widely published work and strong impact on global policy discussions. He has been recognized with the 2025 Financial Times Award for Academic Research with Impact and ranks among the top 1% of authors worldwide in IDEAS/RePEc.

We look forward to another inspiring lecture and discussion with participants of the 22nd edition of the Summer School.
