▪️ Manufacturing slump continues. Official data show that China’s factory activity shrank for the eighth straight month in November, with the manufacturing PMI at 49.2 — still below the 50 threshold that separates growth from contraction.
▪️ Services & non-manufacturing also cool. The non-manufacturing PMI (services + construction) fell to 49.5 in November, marking its first contraction since December 2022. The composite PMI (manufacturing + non-manufacturing) dropped to 49.7.
▪️ New rare-earth export licences — a partial easing. China has issued streamlined “general” export licences for rare-earth materials, easing some supply-chain bottlenecks while maintaining overall strategic control.

▪️ Digital heritage meets ancient civilization. During the 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) in Wuzhen — under the banner “Open, Cooperative, Secure & Inclusive Digital Future” — China spotlighted efforts to digitize cultural heritage: from virtual museum tours, 3D-heritage reconstructions, to AI-powered cultural-exchange tools.
▪️ Cross-civilization dialogue with Italy. A new conference “China and Italy: two civilizations in a centuries-long dialogue and cultural exchange” — organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai and a Chinese university — reinforces cultural ties between Europe and China.

▪️ “𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬” 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐬. In a sign of how seriously Beijing is taking technological competition, the Communist Party called for “extraordinary measures” to achieve decisive breakthroughs in semiconductors and other critical tech.

At the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, humanoid robots took center stage — preparing drinks, assisting visitors, and interacting seamlessly with humans. Far from being just a showcase, this reflects a strategic push: China is massively investing in humanoid robotics and embodied AI.

Some key figures:
▪️Chinese automaker Xpeng is considering up to 100 billion yuan (~US$13.8 billion) in humanoid robot development.
▪️By 2025, China is expected to produce over 10,000 humanoid robots, with a domestic market value of 8.24 billion yuan (~US$1.14 billion).
▪️The broader intelligent robotics sector in China already counts over 451,000 companies, with registered capital exceeding 6.4 trillion yuan, growing more than 200% since 2020.
▪️Long-term, Morgan Stanley projects the global humanoid robot market could surpass US$5 trillion by 2050, with more than 1 billion humanoids in operation.

These numbers show how humanoids are shifting from futuristic curiosity to industrial and commercial reality. It is not just about technology: we also need to focus on the opportunities for research, but also the ethical, regulatory, and societal questions this wave of embodied AI brings.

❓What do you think, are humanoid robots a realistic future companion in daily life, or mainly a tool for factories and services?

This year, the annual military parade in Beijing marks the 80th anniversary of Imperial Japan's surrender at the close of World War II. The event is more than a historical commemoration, it is a complex sociopolitical phenomenon that can be analyzed from several different perspectives.

Key aspects:
▪️𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: the parade highlighted China's contribution to the Allied victory in World War II, emphasizing the great national sacrifice.
▪️𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: the event is a powerful tool for displaying of new military hardware, demonstrating technological progress.
▪️𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦: the event solidifies the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and connects its historical role in the country's victory to its current position as the driving force behind "national rejuvenation."
