"We are all gathered here today in a spirit of solidarity and compassion for the victims and their families.
There are no words to describe the tragedy that occurred in Paris on Friday night: 129 deaths and more than 3 hundred injured, and some of them are currently struggling for their own lives.
Once again Paris is under attack. This act of terror, which was supposed to frighten our people and weaken our values, has only made us stronger. It reminds us that we all stand beside the same values and that we are all fighting for freedom. Your presence here, show how unified we are, all nationalities combined, against terror.
Our generations have witnessed numerous similar outrageous acts of terrorism. Today, we must think of France and other wounded nations.
Those who are responsible have tried to strike us down, by spreading mistrust, fear and division. However our message is clear and strong: we will not retreat, we will not give in to fear and violence.
We stand beside the mourning families and friends of the victims, from Paris, but also from other countries who have recently experienced similar attacks, such as Lebanon.
We proudly thank all the people across the world who have shown their support after this bloody Friday.
Liberty is our state of mind and we are proud to say it.
Today, our motto is the motto of Paris “Fluctuat nec mergitur”, “Tossed but not sunk”.
Today we stand shoulder to shoulder against terror.
Today we are all Parisians.
Quand la France doute de sa place dans le monde, elle doit revenir à sa source d’excellence : la pensée.
Viva la liberta et Vive la France !
Thank you all for being here, thank you to the Bocconi Staff and last but not least thank you to all Bocconi Students Associations for their help and support. "
Pronounced by Louis Poinsignon and written by the BFSS and the BSFL.
