Economic Society for Bocconi Students

Economic Society for Bocconi Students The Economic Society for Bocconi Students (ES) aims at promoting a critical, rigorous and innovative thinking in the field of Economics.

The Economic Society for Bocconi Students is the first-established Economics student association at Bocconi. Launched by a group of DES/ESS students, the Society is now a vibrant community of almost sixty undergraduate and graduate students with a sheer passion for economics. We aim at promoting a critical, rigorous but innovative thinking in the field of social sciences, in order to improve the q

uality of debate on economic matters among the members and the Bocconi student community. Our main activities feature:
- weekly internal seminars, where our members present their original work or academic papers
- open seminars with both Bocconi and external professors
- public events and conferences with leading economists, scholars, journalists and politicians
- community-wide initiatives such as the ‘Economic Society Thesis Award’ and the sharing of economics-related stories on our social media channels

‼️ In April the Economic Society travelled to Frankfurt to visit the European Central Bank and gain a closer understanding of its work.

The visit was held as part of the Europeans4Europeans project whose goal is to demystify the ECB and bring European institutions closer to students. We are proud to say that ESBS is the first student association to pursue this objective by travelling to Frankfurt and experiencing the institution from within.

A special thank you goes to Roberto Schiavi, Director General of DG Corporate Services, for welcoming us. During the visit, our fellows and affiliates had the opportunity to explore the ECB Visitor Centre, engage in a deep dive on IT risk by Fabrizio Ferrari, Senior Supervisor at the SSM (DGHOL), and take part in a roundtable with trainees from different DGs.

We are grateful to all the ECB trainees who joined us and, above all, to Salvatore Mastrullo and Camilla Fallarino who made this visit possible.

‼️ Between March and April the Economic Society was pleased to present the second edition of Women in Economics and Social Sciences.

We were thrilled to welcome Professors Maria Carreri, Alessandra Casarico, and Giulia Giupponi, who offered insights into their latest research and shared reflections from their academic journeys.

Our guests also reflected on what it means to be women economists in a male-dominated field, highlighting both the challenges and the importance of building connections among female peers to navigate and overcome them. A warm thank you to all three speakers for their openness and attentive reflections.
