IRC - Istituto di Ricerche sulla Combustione

IRC - Istituto di Ricerche sulla Combustione The Institute of Research on Combustion IRC-CNR is focused on sustainable
energy researches:Smart energy,Environment protection,Climate effects mitigation

The Institute of Research on Combustion (IRC) is part of the National Research Council
of Italy (CNR). Since its foundation on 1968, IRC has developed research in combustion field and related phenomena (fires, explosions, etc.), steadily expanding its activity, over the years, in different fields: chemical reactor engineering, analytical methods, multiphase flow, heat and mass transfer, to cite a

few. Today concerns on environment pollution, global warming and energy shortage, have oriented the research toward smart energy with combustion efficiency improvement, pollutants and green-house gases reduction and low carbon technologies. In this framework new and more promising activities in the area of advanced technologies are developed: energy production also integrating renewable sources (biomass and solar energy), innovative energy storage systems, pollutant monitoring and abatement, CO2 capture, biomass and wastes valorization, new materials for energy. IRC research, supported by public and private funding, is developed at national and international level in collaboration with private companies and other prestigious research institutions.
