For Area 2 (Remaining Asia and Oceania): Mr. Ekin Gumus

Hello everyone,
This is Ekin and I am a candidate for International Student Council in Area 2 which elections will took place at 1st - 2nd of December 2020
Get to know me; I am 20 years old and 2nd year student of Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science. I originally from Turkey however I also lived in Netherlands and Czech Republic where I still have many connections and common culture with, before I decided to moved to Italy. So in a first-hand I experienced to be an international student in really early ages, from the age of 11 I start to see what kind of difficulties I and my other international student fellows have to face with, long story short; I can understand your demands and needs and thanks to my previous experiences I am pretty good at finding solutions to make problem fixations.
Other than typical international student problems such as housing, I personally want to focus on internationalization with both academic and social events, also improve the student buddy system.

Thank you

Ekin Gumus

For Area 5 (USA and Canada) Mr. Trung Tran

Hello fellow students,
My name is Trung Tran, in this election, I am running for International Student Council, Area 5 (USA and Canada).
I am a first year master student in Mobility Studies. However, this is my second experience at an Italian University, and I have been living in Italy for the last 8 years and have obtained a master degree in History and Culture of Food from the University of Bologna. As a foreign student, I believe OUR representation in the university should be recognized and OUR needs should be addressed. Though the university is doing its best to help foreign students, it is up to us, students, to voice our needs and concerns. Leaving our families and friends behind for 3 months, a year or even 4 years is a hard challenge for a 20 year old, as students we need a support system, not just logistics and bureaucracy, but also a community to be part of.
Over the last 5 years, I have worked as a coordinator for study abroad programs in Italy, and I created that community, I have worked with university officials to address bureaucratic and administrative aspects of studying abroad; furthermore, and more importantly, I have talked and interacted with students to form an inclusive community, regardless of where you're from and who you are. I strongly believe in a community that welcomes everyone is a stronger community that will keep making itself stronger.
So in this election I hope you trust my experience and belief with your vote.

Thanks,

Trung

Dear colleagues,
Recently we are receiving a lot of your mails and messages, requesting information about different aspects regarding the University, especially how will the admission process work in this troubling times, and how and when will the lessons resume. We understand your concerns as all of us are students just like you. We thank you for contacting the ISC, we appreciate having feedbacks from the international students because it helps us to inform the University of Padova about the issues that our current and future students have. In the previous 2 years, we focused on the improvement of the living standards of all international students.
But we must make some clarifications.
We are not the University! We are one of the student controlling bodies of the University and our function is to serve as an intermediate between the International students and the University. We are all only STUDENTS and we DO NOT work for the University, therefore we do not have answers to the questions regarding University policies or decision making. We can only transmit some of your specific questions to the International Office (which is part of the University, completely separated from this council but whit whom we have a close collaboration), or address you to the competent University offices or schools.
Being a student council we can merely ask for the information from the University and share them with you, when they share them with us. At the moment the University is not working in its full capacity and the time between questions and answers are getting long. We can only ask for your patience, because We as a student council can’t do much.
Considering what we stated above, we invite you to write directly to your schools/departments for some very specific information, and to monitor the University website which will certainly be updated with new information as soon as there are any.
Ultimately we hope that the things will slowly go back to normal and that all of you will be able to resume or start your studies.
We wish you all the best of luck!

We wish You a successful exam session!

Today marks the official start of the winter exam session!

Exam season can be a daunting and stressful time...here are 3 tips to best deal with it:

1. Take the pressure off yourself - whatever the outcome of your exams, you can still be successful and achieve your goals
2. Look after yourself - have breaks, eat well, keep hydrated, exercise, don't be obsessed by your smartphone and get a good night's sleep. This will help you to stay focused and healthy
3. Celebrate your achievements by planning fun things after your exams - make sure you have something to look forward to!

May your hard work pay-off! Good luck to all of you!
