Friday afternoon, on the occasion of the , with my two dear collagues Daniele Molinari and Wolfgang Huemer, I will talk about , and how we can use our to answer * simple * questions like: What is right and what is wrong? Who am I, what is it that keeps me myself even if I change a little every day?
If these questions inspire you, it means that you have a philosophical soul!
If so, you can book here to come and imagine with us:
https://prenotazioninottericercatori.unipr.it

Here is a small abstract of the event:
What do you need to do scientific research? Collect data, examine it in laboratories and formulate theories? Doesn't it seem that something else is missing?
All this would be vain if it were not guided by our imagination. Thanks to thought experiments, we are able to use our imagination in a serious, compelling and rigorous way to broaden our knowledge.
In our meeting we will invite you on a journey into the imagination, conducting together three thought experiments from the fields of science and philosophy.

Monika Michałowska, Richard Kilvington on the Capacity of Created Beings, Infinity, and Being Simultaneously in Rome and Paris: Critical Edition of Question 3 from Quaestiones super libros Sententiarum (History - Brill Publishing, March 2021)

Richard Kilvington was one of the most talented Oxford Calculators. His influence on late medieval philosophy and theology remains unquestionable. He made a name for himself with his logical treatise Sophismata, which was soon followed by a series of three commentaries on Aristotle’s works and a commentary on Peter Lombard’s Sentences. Richard Kilvington on the Capacity of Created Being, Infinity, and Being Simultaneously in Rome and Paris by Monika Michałowska presents a critical edition of question 3 from Kilvington’s Quaestiones super libros Sententiarum, complete with an introduction to the edition and a guide to Kilvington’s theological concepts. Kilvington’s theological question commentary enjoyed considerable popularity and became a source of continuous inspiration for Oxonian and Parisian masters.
