🌍Alumna Lucrezia Agosta: Internship with COOPI in Ethiopia 🇪🇹

"Thanks to the Master's program in Cooperation and Development, I spent six months as a program assistant at COOPI's Coordination Office in Addis Ababa.

From supporting donor reporting and developing project proposals to participating in field missions, this experience allowed me to gain firsthand knowledge of the implementation of humanitarian and emergency response projects and to study disaster risk reduction projects. Being in the field was my favourite part, as it allowed me to meet beneficiaries and see the real impact on their lives. Today, I am more convinced than ever of my mission: to work in the humanitarian sector to alleviate suffering and defend human dignity."

From Guayaquil to Nairobi: a Master's student on field🌏

With a background in humanitarian response and experience coordinating projects in Ecuador, our student Genesis Gallegos has started her internship in Kenya as part of the final phase of the Master's in Cooperation and Development Master.

She is currently working with the team at World Friends, providing both technical and administrative support to the coordination of three impactful projects focused on maternal and child health in the informal settlements of Nairobi and Kajiado. At the same time, she is engaging directly with communities through field activities, working alongside health workers and women leaders.

Although health was not a sector she had previously worked in, this experience is allowing her to explore it from the ground up. The Kenyan context, so different from Ecuador, is offering valuable lessons that she hopes to bring back to her country.
Genesis is also working under the guidance of Lucia Pincerato, Deputy Regional Coordinator at World Friends and a fellow Master alumna, showcasing the power of professional networks and the interdisciplinary nature of the program.

🌱From the field, Genesis continues to affirm her commitment to building a more just, dignified, and human world.

Francesca Secchi and Lia Gasperoni are two students of the Master in Cooperation and Development of the University of Pavia that have just finished their internship in Dakar with ACRA .
As Project Manager Assistant and Coordination Assistant, their work mainly focused on supporting:
☑️the management of several projects aimed at promoting access to rights and water;
☑️ the coordination office for the Sahel region, by contributing to the analysis of policy frameworks, contextual reports and project proposals.
From their voices 🗣 “This experience has allowed us to strengthen our practical skills across all stages of the project cycle canagement, from formulation to implementation and evaluation, while also deepening our understanding of the dynamics of the senegalese and broader sahelian context”.

The internship guidance with our partner NGOs has kicked off!🛫

Over these weeks, we had the opportunity to speak with representatives from many organisations who shared their missions, projects, countries of intervention, and internship opportunities dedicated to our students!

Our students, Abdulwahab and Winny, are now having their internship with CISP Sviluppo dei Popoli in Malawi! Abdulwahab told us about their daily activities:

🌾"Our main work is focused on the Smart Climate Project, which aims at strengthening food security, rural development, and climate resilience for smallholder farmers. The project supports communities in adopting sustainable agricultural practices, improving water access, and utilising climate-smart technologies.

I’ve also recently joined a new project called "Thrive", which builds on Smart Climate’s foundation. Thrive aims to establish five community gardens with solar-powered boreholes and irrigation systems to boost food production. I primarily contribute to layout design and provide technical advice."

The CISP team here is composed of other former Master's students, such as the Project Manager Andrea Pacelli, Mwai Singano as MEAL Officer and Paolo Lauretti as Administrative Support. Congratulations to you all guys for your commitment and enthusiasm that is really making the difference! 💙🌏
