What a lovely surprise on campus last week! ✨
We were delighted to welcome back one of our 2024 alumni, Jasmine, who has returned to Italy and is taking part in an exchange program at the University of Bologna.
Jasmine stopped by to say hello and to reconnect with the local family who hosted her during her stay through our Homestay program. 💛
It’s always a pleasure to see our students return and share their journeys after their experience at Monash Prato!

Last Friday, our students explored the beautiful trails of the Monti della Calvana, a mountain range that has shaped the landscape, history and traditions of the Prato area for centuries. With its ancient paths, open plateaus, sweeping views across Tuscany and rich biodiversity, the Calvana offers a unique glimpse into the region’s natural heritage. 🌿⛰️

✨ In recent weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting an incredible series of Women in Leadership training programs in Prato.
Expertly led, experience-driven, and evidence-based, the programs brought together women working across medicine, healthcare, government, and research to reflect on their leadership journeys, strengthen their skills, and explore their purpose and impact.
Participants explored key leadership concepts - from leading change in complex systems to navigating barriers to career progression and developing strategies for work-life integration.
A powerful opportunity to learn, connect, and grow within a dynamic community of women leaders, alongside expert facilitators and guest speakers, including Professor Helena Teede, Dr Jenny Proimos, and Dr Belinda Garth.
🌿 We look forward to the final two courses in the coming weeks!

🔧 The International European HRSG Forum 2026 returns to Prato for its 12th edition!
This international conference brings together experts and industry professionals to explore the latest challenges and innovations in HRSG technology and power plant operation.
Discussions will span a wide range of topics, from HRSG tube failures and pressure part reliability, to thermal transients, water treatment and cycle chemistry, including the use of Film Forming Substances (FFS). The programme will also address HRSG preservation across different operating modes, material selection and new applications, optimisation of plant controls, without forgetting environmental considerations.
📍 We look forward to this new edition of technical exchange, collaboration, and industry insight, and we warmly welcome all those taking part!

Bentornati a Monash Prato, students from Penn State University!

Over the next week, students will explore Prato, Florence and Bologna through classes, museum visits and local experiences, engaging with food, history and architecture - from climbing Brunelleschi’s Dome to discovering Bologna’s hidden canals, textile traditions in Prato, and Renaissance masterpieces at the Uffizi Gallery.
The program also includes visits to local institutions and businesses, a lesson in pizza-making, cultural activities, and opportunities to experience everyday life in Tuscany. 🍝🏛️🚆

We’re excited to be welcoming Penn State once again, and look forward to an unforgettable week together.

Ready for round 2 of the Law Semester in Prato? ⚖️

Over the coming weeks, our students will be turning their attention to one of the following units:
📚 Movement Lawyering
Exploring the role of law and lawyers in social movements, and how legal strategies can support collective action, advance social justice, and challenge structural inequalities across different contexts.
🌍 Labour Law through the Lens of Climate Change
Examining how climate change is reshaping labour law: focusing on workers, workplaces, and regulation, including sustainability, just transition, and climate-related governance.

We are also delighted to welcome back to Prato, Professor Steven Vaughan, Dean of the Faculty of Law, who will be joining colleagues and teaching during this semester abroad.

👉Last week we had the pleasure of hosting The Emergency & Trauma Masterclass Series 2026, bringing together clinicians from around the world for an immersive week of training and exchange.
👉The Emergency Department Leadership course focused on developing the skills needed to lead with confidence in complex clinical environments, while the Trauma Masterclass took participants on an in-depth journey through trauma care: from pre-hospital response all the way through to in-hospital management.

From 4-7 May, we hosted the Prato International Parent and Child Mental Health Research Collaborative 2026, bringing together researchers from over 30 countries, united by one shared goal: improving the lives of children, parents, and families.
It’s always a pleasure to host events where research meets impact, from developing projects that respond to real-world needs, to mentoring the next generation of researchers. 🤝

🎨 Welcome to Brincat, 2026 Prato campus Artist in Residence!

We’re delighted to host acclaimed Australian artist Lauren Brincat for a residency spanning over three months. During her time in Prato, Lauren will develop a new body of work titled Textile Acts: Resistance, Ritual, and Radical Forms.
“I was wildly surprised to be included,” Lauren says. “But I was also really grateful. It felt like Prato was a place that I needed to go.”
As of this week, Lauren will be immersing herself in Prato’s rich textile heritage: a perfect setting for her multidisciplinary practice across performance, installation, video, sculpture, and sound.
✨ We’re excited to see her ideas come to life in our city!
