Services represent the largest sector of the economy of most OECD countries. Only in the service sector the economy witnessed employment growth in the last few years. In addition to the growth of the service sectors (retail, intermediation, consultancy, financial services, hospitality, etc.), services are increasingly embedded in most traditional and innovative manufacturing businesses. The rising
prominence of service management strongly depends on the ongoing developments in information and communication technologies as well as market globalization. Service management is fundamental for the growth and success of today’s organizations both in the manufacturing and the service sectors. A major topic shared among several courses in the study plan of SEM is the management of international business activities, which aims at training managers and staff of multinational companies or enterprises with foreign business operations.. The School of Economics, Management and Statistics, which offers the Master in Service Management, is part of the University of Bologna. Founded in 1088, it is the oldest academic institution of the Western world and is one of the most important higher education institutions in Italy and the whole of Europe. SEM will be offered at the Rimini Campus of the University of Bologna. Admission to SEM requires an undergraduate Bachelor degree or an Italian degree qualification. A Scientific Committee will verify skills and competencies of the candidates required on the basis of the curriculum vitae and useful documents sent to the Commission as listed herewith.
