Religion & Security Council

Religion & Security Council RSC promotes the role of religions in advancing peace, security, cooperation for the common good.

As religious-based views and identities are misused to trigger warfare, inter-state and domestic tensions, radicalization and violent extremism, RSC is engaged in highlighting the potentialities of religions as a driver of peace and security, rather than of crises and instability. To fulfil its mission, RSC promotes interreligious dialogue initiatives involving religious leaders, decision-makers,

scholars, practitioners, and civil society organizations. RSC also advocates for sound and balanced approaches to religious scriptures and doctrines to counter the radical discourse and narratives, as well as indoctrination and recruitment by extremist groups, especially among the youth. RSC is focused on the present and the future of religious minorities against any form of sectarianism, discrimination, and human rights violation, and supports reconciliation efforts to achieve peaceful coexistence and communal harmony in post-conflict and troubled contexts. Effective solutions to many of the conflicts and crises of our time need to include the “religious factor” as well, and RSC aims to address the nexus between religion, peace, and security as the way forward for state and non-state actors, different religious denominations, peoples, and communities, to prevent confrontation and foster cooperation and partnership relations.
