13 progetti, 8 minuti per raccontarli e un palco su cui far incontrare le idee.

Ieri, al Cinema Troisi, gli IED Roma Design Awards ON STAGE hanno portato davanti al pubblico e a una giuria di professionisti i migliori progetti di tesi IED Roma dell'anno accademico 2025/26.

Una mattinata di presentazioni, confronto e condivisione, che ha dato voce ai giovani designer e ai loro percorsi di ricerca e progettazione.

Prossimo appuntamento: il 23 ottobre al Mattatoio di Roma, ospiti di Romaeuropa Festival, per scoprire e premiare i tre progetti vincitori degli IED Roma Design Awards 2026.

Il talento dei designer IED ti aspetta al Cinema Troisi. ✨

Il 15 ottobre gli IED Roma Design Awards diventano ON STAGE e si aprono alla città: tredici progetti di tesi, otto minuti ciascuno per raccontare il proprio lavoro a una giuria di professionisti del mondo creativo.

Dal design alla comunicazione, dall’innovazione sociale alla valorizzazione culturale: una mattinata per scoprire nuove prospettive e incontrare i giovani progettisti IED Roma.

Dalle idee degli studenti IED al piccolo schermo! 📺

È in onda sulle reti La7 e Sky il nuovo spot della campagna “Sud Vivo” di Fondazione con il Sud, nato da un progetto che ha coinvolto studentesse e studenti del 3° anno di Design della Comunicazione, con il contributo dei corsi di Sound Design e Fashion Styling.

Tra le proposte creative sviluppate, la Fondazione ha scelto proprio uno degli script ideati dai giovani designer IED, diventato poi uno spot televisivo grazie alla produzione esecutiva di .

Un percorso dalla progettazione alla messa in onda, in cui idee, linguaggi e competenze diverse si sono incontrati per dare forma a una campagna di comunicazione reale.

IED Roma ricorda con profonda commozione Bonizza Giordani Aragno, autorevole storica della moda e del costume, figura di riferimento nella ricerca e nella valorizzazione del patrimonio della moda italiana.

Storica docente del nostro Istituto, ha trasmesso a generazioni di studenti passione, curiosità e un sapere prezioso, da custodire e continuare a condividere, affinché le nuove generazioni possano trovare nel passato strumenti per comprendere il presente e immaginare il futuro.

IED Roma si unisce al cordoglio per la sua scomparsa e ne conserva il ricordo con stima, affetto e riconoscenza.

A city can multiply connections and still leave people more alone. “Metropoli” starts from that contradiction.

Graduates from Fashion Design and Jewellery Design at IED Roma presented their final collections at The Social Hub Rome, in collaboration with BrancaccioDanza and with music by the Lost Boys collective The Lost Boys Society.

Working between protection and exposure, belonging and individuality, the collections treat the body as one of the last authentic spaces of expression: volumes, transparencies and L ayering, technical fabrics and natural fibres, artifice and humanity in dialogue.

In fotografia, ogni immagine nasce da una serie di scelte: la composizione del set, la luce, l’inquadratura, il modo in cui il soggetto entra nello spazio.

In sala posa, gli studenti di Fotografia sperimentano con lo still life per imparare a costruire immagini capaci di valorizzare e raccontare un prodotto, tra ricerca visiva e linguaggi della comunicazione.

Twelve graduates from the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design at IED Madrid presented their final collections at Espacio Jorge Juan, as part of the OMODA Madrid es Moda programme.
Hand embroidery, tailoring, pattern cutting and sculptural volume become tools for very personal stories: a grandmother’s fading memory, a migrant mother’s care, the shadow as part of who we are.

Il museo come luogo da vivere, abitare e condividere.

Nove progetti degli studenti di Interior Design, presentati come tesi nell'AA 2025/26, reinterpretano il MACRO come uno spazio aperto alla città, dove arte, formazione, lavoro, benessere e socialità convivono e si incontrano.

Una riflessione su nuovi modi di abitare e immaginarne il futuro.

Irina Kavtaradze, graduating in Graphic Design at IED Barcelona, explored how identity and belonging are shaped by home, memory and transgenerational trauma, proposing that home is not a physical place but an internal psychological structure that holds identity together through change.

Drawing on research into family archives and interviews, the project translates its findings into a generative visual system fed by personal data collected through a questionnaire. The outcome is a felted rug, an internal landscape unique to each person or family, bridging technology and craft.

An object made to open intergenerational dialogue, and to be passed on.

Dalla progettazione alla performance: gli studenti di Sound Design hanno trasformato il lavoro sviluppato per l’esame "Sistemi Interattivi 1 – Live e Musica Elettronica", con il docente Giulio Maresca, in una serie di live set.

Per farlo, lo scorso giugno, sono usciti dall’aula: hanno sostenuto l’esame da Rhizome, vinyl & book shop a pochi passi dallo IED, che ringraziamo per averci ospitato.

Anna Leccese, graduating in Interaction Design at IED Torino, worked on youth mobility from southern to northern Italy, following young people from Puglia who left for study or work and later begin to question whether they could return.

The thesis reads return not as an immediate or linear decision, but as a process crossed by desire, doubt, expectation and constraints still out of focus. The project answers with a guidance programme in three phases: Readiness, Connection and Enabling, built from a digital platform, a physical booklet, reflection exercises, maps, visual feedback and conversations with mentors who have lived the same experience.

It offers no single answer, only a space to make the desire to return more legible.

Material World. What if materials were not passive resources, but active participants in design?
Issue 4 of Notes on Plural Intelligences explores our relationship with matter, from
indigenous knowledge and living systems to biomaterials, local resources and adaptive design.

Through conversations with Julia Watson, Raquel Buj and Atelier MARE, and contributions by Graziela Nivoloni and Francesco Saverio Matera, the issue looks at what it means to design with materials rather than simply design through them: recognising their agency, working with what already exists, and building more reciprocal relationships with the ecosystems we inhabit.

Elena Bicocchi, graduating in Interior Design at IED Roma, developed an urban regeneration project for via Valesio, in the Tuscolano district, together with Municipio VII. After the closure of the local market, the area risked turning into a socio-spatial void.
The strategy works in two phases: a process of social facilitation that brings residents in, and only then the architectural composition of the street. Via Valesio stops being mobility infrastructure and becomes active space, flexible enough to hold cultural events and everyday collective life.

Developed in collaboration with Municipio VII, Roma.

Malak Yahia, graduating in Graphic Design at IED Barcelona, built a research-led multimedia project around a single figure: the labyrinth, read as a metaphor for contemporary systems of power. Drawing on critical theory, postcolonial studies and the historical evolution of labyrinthine structures, the thesis argues that modern control operates not through open restriction, but through the limitation of perspective, while the appearance of freedom is preserved.

The project culminates in Ananke, an interactive installation across six screens where canonical Western paintings are fragmented and animated, and hidden words are gradually revealed through CAPTCHA-based interactions. Navigating them uncovers a sequence of literary revelations that expose the political, emotional and bureaucratic structures shaping everyday life.

Alongside a printed publication and a series of laser-cut pocket labyrinths, the work invites its audience to reconsider the systems they inhabit, and leaves them with one question: if the structure becomes visible, which direction do you take?

IED Kunsthal Bilbao

IED Kunsthal Bilbao opened Edificio Papelera to the public for the third edition of its Degree Show, presenting 39 final degree projects from the graduating classes in Fashion, Product, Interior and Graphic Design, alongside a Fashion Show featuring the collections of Fashion
Design graduates.
Beyond the exhibition itself, Degree Show is a moment of exchange between the school and the city: work developed inside the classroom meets professionals, companies and institutions, addressing questions from housing and mental health to digital privacy and urban regeneration.
