The American University of Rome (AUR) currently has three Master's degree programs, with a fourth slated for Fall 2018. in Sustainable Cultural Heritage
M.A. in Peace Studies (Fall 2018)

AUR is one of the oldest degree-granting American universities in Italy. The Graduate Programs build on the tradition of excellence and high academic standards of AUR distinctive undergraduate programs. By enrolling at AUR, students will receive an American Master’s degree, accredited by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education.From the beginning of their course of study, they will be helped in thinking about shaping their future career paths. On completion of the Master’s degree, students can either pursue a professional career or continue their studies towards a Ph.D. Rome is the inspiring classroom for the on-site learning elements of our Programs and also the starting point for reaching out to the rest of Italy, to Europe, and to the world, given the international organizations based in Rome and the presence of a vibrant cosmopolitan community. AUR’s wide network of institutions will help enrich students’ experience while in Rome.

For students in the Political Economy of Peace and War course, learning about global cooperation went far beyond the classroom.

On October 16 and 17, they traveled to Naples to attend MED Mediterranean Dialogues, hosted by ISPI and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the historic Royal Palace, Palazzo Reale.

The conference brought together global leaders, diplomats, and scholars to discuss key Mediterranean issues from energy and migration to sustainable development and humanitarian crises.

Through experiences like this, the Political Economy of Peace and War course bridges theory and practice, helping students understand not only how peace is studied but how it is built.

Yesterday our Grad students gathered to celebrate a harvest luncheon 🍁🦃 Today we are thankful for our great group of students, staff, and faculty!

On Tuesday, our MA Food Studies students went on a field trip to the Via Cassia agricultural project run by Cooperativa Co.r.ag.gio! 🌿 The students were able to converse with their guide Giacomo about agroecological farming, climate change, and the mission of their youth-led agricultural project 🌾

This past weekend, students from the Peace Studies program enjoyed the city by taking a late night stroll next to some of the most famous sights in the city! Rome is a beautiful city by day, and by night.

Had a lovely escape from the city this Sunday and a group of the grad students went on a hike! What an exciting treat to re-immerse in nature with some friends!

On March 10, the Food Studies program hosted the conference, “Novel Foods and Novel Food Production: A solution to food systems sustainability?” The grad students helped out while attending the conference. We got to meet and hear from experts in the field like Colin Sage and Amy Bentley!

The grad students enjoyed LinkedIn workshop taught by Anar! They learned many new LinkedIn tips and tricks along with some yummy pizza for lunch!

Julie here! I went on a day trip to Pompeii with a couple other food studies students on one of our days off. We took a guided tour and walked around the city before heading out. It felt like walking around the biggest museum and it was amazing to walk around such a old city, a different feeling than walking around Rome. Everything was tinged with a sadness, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been.
