Il laboratorio di Ingegneria Biomedica, BioLab³, si occupa dello studio, sviluppo e realizzazione di metodologie e tecnologie biomediche per applicazioni nell'ambito della salute dell'uomo. In particolare, l’attività di ricerca del BioLab³ riguarda: l'utilizzo di tecnologie, dispositivi, e tecniche per la descrizione, l'analisi e la classificazione del movimento umano; l'integrazione tecnologica p

er lo sviluppo di piattaforme per il monitoraggio clinico-diagnostico e per l'analisi della performance sportiva; le tecnologie assistive per lo sviluppo di sistemi di monitoraggio del recupero funzionale e di supporto alla disabilità. Nell'ambito del monitoraggio dell'attività motoria, in un contesto di personalised health, il BioLab³ ha realizzato dispositivi indossabili con tecnologia wireless, per la classificazione delle attività motorie, la descrizione della qualità del movimento, e la valutazione del dispendio energetico. Sono anche allo studio metodi e dispositivi per un'interazione di tipo gestuale con computer e/o strumentazione. Le attività di ricerca e sviluppo svolte nel BioLab³possono trovare applicazione sia in campo più strettamente industriale, nelle industrie orientate alle applicazioni per la salute dell'uomo, sia anche nei programmi di attività di ASL e associazioni. Gli studenti della Laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica (percorso Biomedica) e della Laurea Magistrale in Bioingegneria svolgono numerose attività sperimentali presso il BioLab³ durante le esercitazioni dei corsi accademici e durante lo svolgimento di attività di tirocinio e tesi di laurea.
