Duquesne in Rome

Duquesne in Rome Duquesne University Italian Campus in Rome, Italy. The Fall 2004 semester saw the inauguration of our new campus, a more permanent home in the eternal city.

Welcome to the Duquesne University Italian Campus, in cooperation with the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The history of the Italian Campus program begins with the Spring 2001 semester, where the Italian Campus was housed at the Villa Santa Cecilia in the suburb of Vitinia. During these past years, the Italian Campus program has grown into an important academic and life expanding study ab

road program for students of Duquesne University's home campus in Pittsburgh, PA. Rome is truly the eternal city! From the omnipresent ruins of the powerful Rome that set the standard for much of the world in ancient days, to the emblems such as the Vatican, that continue to set standards in the 21st century. To live in Rome is to live its history and the story of a progressive people. Although you will have plenty of time for personal travel to other places in Italy and Europe while here, a student of Duquesne University Italian campus soon calls home, the eternal city of Rome

We welcome you to Rome and to the Italian Campus!

Ciao, Roma! 🇮🇹✨
Fall 2026 is officially underway! Orientation weekend was filled with exploring our new neighborhood, meeting new friends, and taking in our first glimpses of the Eternal City. Our students are settling into their new home for the next three months. 💛

Here’s to new beginnings, unforgettable adventures, and making Roma feel like home. 🇮🇹🍝📚

Day Two in Rome 🇮🇹

We hit the cobblestones and kicked off another full day together! After a packed day of sessions on campus, we headed into the city to explore St. Peter’s Square and Castel Sant’Angelo — while getting to know all 41 incredible students a little better along the way. 💛

Good food, lots of laughs, and plenty of moments worth capturing. And this is only the beginning. Tomorrow, the tours begin in the “centro storico”! 💫

We don’t think we have ever seen a more beautiful proposal background than the Roman Forum at sunrise! 🌅❤️

Lakyn Davis (Physician Assistant Studies ’26) and Antonio DiLascio (Finance and Accounting ’25) are engaged—and we couldn’t be happier for these two! 💍🇮🇹 Duquesne University Alumni Association

As Lakyn shared, “Being in Rome together in 2023 just six months into our relationship was such a growth point. Studying abroad to us is all about embracing change and finding yourself, so it gave us a deeper appreciation for each other because we chose to be together throughout all these changes.”

From meeting Antonio’s extended family in Southern Italy to venturing beyond Rome to Venice and Paris, “we fell more in love with each other and every place we went. Still, nowhere compared to our love for the home we’d made in Rome.”

They knew they’d be back in the Eternal City—only one of them knew it would be to get engaged! ❤️

Congratulations, Lakyn & Antonio, on the best news ever! The Rome staff feel so honored to have seen you both on this special day! Auguri! ✨

OUR TOP 10 MOMENTS FROM THIS PAST ACADEMIC YEAR 🇮🇹✨

1.
The students who made 2025–2026 unforgettable. ❤️🎓🇮🇹 All 153 of them arrived in Rome ready for an adventure—and left transformed by the people they met, the places they explored, and the experiences they shared. They changed Rome, and Rome changed them. Thank you for an incredible year.

Fall 2026, we’re ready for you! ✨

The little moments became the big memories. ☕🍝🌿 Between weekend adventures and bucket-list travels, some of the best parts of Rome happened right here on campus—sharing meals prepared by Chef Aurelio and Chef Daniel, chatting with the Sisters, studying outside, or enjoying a caffè with friends. These are the moments that made Rome feel like home. ❤️

Grazie, Chris—and arrivederci! 🇮🇹💙

For the past two years as Global Assistant Resident Coordinator, Chris Scaricaciottoli has been a source of support, encouragement, and friendship for our students. As a Duquesne in Rome alum himself, he understands just how transformative this experience can be. We wish him all the best in this next chapter. It’s not goodbye... it’s a presto! 👋✨

Blessings from Pope Leo. 🇻🇦✨ This year, our students witnessed history with the first American Pope. From hearing his announcement in St. Peter’s Square to receiving his blessings during the Jubilee celebrations, these were moments none of us will ever forget. A special blessing was even shared with President-Elect David Dausey during his historic visit to Rome. What a year! 🙏

Everyone fell in love with this guy. 😉 No visit to Florence is complete without meeting Michelangelo’s David. Standing before one of the world’s most iconic masterpieces is a reminder that beauty, creativity, and human potential can truly stand the test of time. 🇮🇹🎨
