This week over 70 more young space scientists and engineers got their proverbial space wings, launching their experiments to the edge of space on-board one of the twin REXUS/BEXUS (Rocket/Balloon Experiments for University Students) flights!

Launch Campaign is over and we're back in Italy!
The BEXUS 28 gondola has been successfully recovered and our experiment will be soon shipped back to Rome with all the data collected during the flight!
It has been an amazing experience which we will remember forever!
After one year and five months of hard work we've attained our final goal: reaching the stratosphere!
This couldn't be possible without the help of our friends, mentors and sponsors who supported us through this long journey! To them we say thank you for believing in us! 🙏🏼❤️

La campagna di lancio è finita e siamo di nuovo in Italia!
La gondola del BEXUS 28 è stata recuperata con successo ed il nostro esperimento verrà presto rispedito a Roma insieme ai dati raccolti durante il volo! E' stata un'esperienza fantastica che ricorderemo per sempre! Dopo un anno e cinque mesi di duro lavoro siamo giunti all'ambito traguardo: raggiungere la stratosfera! Tutto ciò non sarebbe stato possibile senza l'aiuto dei nostri amici, mentori e sponsor che ci hanno aiutato durante questo lungo viaggio! A loro diciamo grazie per aver creduto in noi! 🙏🏼❤️

After 3 hours and 30 minutes of flight, travelling 317 km, reaching a maximum altitude of 26 km, the TARDIS experiment has landed in the Finnish forest.
The flight was good and we collected a lot of precious data! 💪🥰
Since there has been bad weather in Finland, the experiment will be recovered on Sunday.
Waiting for the countdown, establishing connection with the experiment, following the balloon through its journey... it has been a fantastic experience that we will never forget!

Dopo 3 ore e 30 minuti di volo, viaggiando per 317 km, raggiungendo un'altitude massima di 26 km, l'esperimento TARDIS è atterrato nelle foreste finlandesi.
Il volo è andato bene e siamo riusciti a raccogliere molti dati preziosi! 💪🥰
Poichè c'è stato maltempo in Finlandia, l'esperimento sarà recuperato domenica.
Attendere il countdown, stabilire la connessione con l'esperimento, seguire il pallone lungo il suo viaggio...è stata un'esperienza fantastica che non dimenticheremo mai!

determination" at the 2019 International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Washington, DC. 🤩🚀

LAUNCH DAY 🎈🎈🎈
Hercules, the big vehicle you see in the picture, has just picked up the Gondola which cointains our experiment! You can see our four antennas hanging in the low right corner.
Count-down for the launch has started, targeting lift-off @6 a.m.

Ercole, l'enorme veicolo che potete vedere in foto, ha appena prelevato la gondola al cui interno è posto il nostro esperimento! Potete vedere le quattro antenne che sporgono nell'angolo in basso a destra.
Il conto alla rovescia per il lancio è iniziato, programmato per le 6 di mattina.

01:45 local time, and preperations for the launch of BEXUS 28 have begun! The gondola is being picked up by the mighty hercules 💪 vehicle. Count down start at 02:00, which launch expected at 06:00!

DAY THREE 🌎
The final integration is done! In the photo you can see our experiment mounted on the balloon structure (called Gondola). We did power and communication tests and passed the Individual Integration Test!
Starting from left to right we have the mechanical arm which holds the tracking antenna, then the mechanical box which contains all the electronics and finally a 1.2 meters long policarbonate pole which supports the four magnetic loop antennas!
Next step: Gondola Interference Test!

GIORNO TRE 🌎
L'integrazione finale è stata completata! Nella foto potete vedere il nostro esperimento montato sulla struttura del pallone (chiamata gondola). Abbiamo eseguito test di potenza e di comunicazione, passando l'Individual Integration Test!
Partendo da sinistra verso destra abbiamo il braccio meccanico che regge l'antenna di tracking, la scatola contenente tutta l'elettronica ed infine un palo di policarbonato lungo 1.2 metri che sostiene le quattro antenne a loop magnetico!
Prossimo step: Gondola Interference Test!

DAY TWO! 🌨
Second day of integration! The team tested all the onboard sensors (in the first photo we went outside to test the GPS) and finished the mechanical integration of the experiment.
We have also tested all our Radio equipment (cables, filters and antennas).

Secondo giorno di integrazione! Il team ha testato tutti i sensori di bordo (nella prima foto siamo usciti all'aperto per testare il GPS) e abbiamo finito l'integrazione meccanica dell'esperimento.
Abbiamo anche testato tutto il nostro equipaggiamento radio (cavi, filtri e antenne).
