We are at the final step of Lights4Violence project and we got many interesting results to share!
In the shortfilms, we can see that adolescents acknowledge their friends, families and school staff as relevant protective assets against violence. During the workshops with students, we observed relevant decrease in sexism, but also a controversial increase in aggressivity. Students demonstrate to be able to manage dating violence situations using different personal skills and relationships. Lights4Violence project has been made in contexts where other related project are taking place. Therefore, we should interpret these results in their specific contexts, and the effect (or lack of this) of other interventions related with this topic. Morever, promoting connections and convergences among similar projects is absolutely needed.
Thank you all for participating in this two-year project and keeo following us!

The Italian situation regarding gender stereotypes and violence is alarming. A survey by ISTAT provides very worrying data:https://www.istat.it/it/files//2019/11/Report-stereotipi-di-genere.pdf
About violence in a couple, 7.4% of people always consider it acceptable or in some circumstances that "a boy slaps his girlfriend because he flirted with another man", 6.2% that in a couple we escape a slap every now and then. Compared to the control, however, there are more than twice as many people (17.7%) who consider it always acceptable or in some circumstances that a man routinely checks the mobile phone and / or social networking activities of his wife / girlfriend.
When asked why some men are violent with their partners/wives, 77.7% of the respondents respond because women are considered objects of property (84.9% women and 70.4% men), 75.5% because they abuse drugs or alcohol and another 75% because of the need for men to feel superior to their partners/wives. The difficulty of some men in managing anger is indicated by 70.6%, with a difference of about 8 percentage points in favor of women compared to men.

Last saturday, November 23, a massive march paraded in Rome on the occasion of the International Day against Gender Violence that is celebrated today worldwide. Under the slogan "Non Una di Meno" ("Not a Woman Less"), the event appealed to the transnational and pervasive dimensions of the gender-based violence and femicide.
According to a recent study by Eures, in Italy 142 femicides were recorded last year, while stalking, mistreatment and sexual violence are increasing. That is, one woman is killed every 2/3 days, mostly by people she knows. Media narratives about such cases, however, range from blaming the victims to tolerating the perpetrators, from minimising the single case as a raptus to outsourcing it as an immigration issue. "Instead, we know that violence [...] has no passport, color or social class, but often has the key of the home", the NonUnaDiMeno activists write.

In the light of all this, then, intervening against gender-based violence in intimate partner relationships at a young age is increasingly needed. And, hence, project such as Lights4Violence working with teenagers on skills and relationships which do help to build and manage love and dating situations healthly, are absolutely urgent. Members of the Polish team talked about bullying and cyberbullying prevention in Gdynia the last November 5, 2019. Over 200 teachers took actively part in the lecture and then engaged in interactive workshops. Such topics have been pivotal in understanding the main findings of our project, since violence in dating relationships is also influenced within violence among peers.

Students at Bro Edern School made films about resolving difficulties in relationships by improving communication skills. They explored how it can be difficult to talk when you are really upset with someone, when emotions are running high. They also looked at how devastating violence can be in relationships.

Margarita Robles, a psychologist in Álava Reyes, states that "physiognomy and genitality do not necessarily define whether a person will feel like a child. Gender identity and physiology are not the same, there is no cause-effect relationship. Pen*s=boy is a very biased and simplistic view of the complex human reality. And she affirms that most children finish nursery school and start school feeling if they are boys or girls.

Mientras unos expertos aseguran que esta educación es la forma más respetuosa de criar, otros consideran que el modelo produce demasiada confusión

UA team analyzed the content of the video-capsules thorugh a qualitative approach to identify the different types of violence that Spanish adolescents recognized on their dating relationships, as well as the description of the different assets for positive development they used to solve them. Verbal violence is the most represented on the scripts and it is also the more perceived pattern of violence on adolescent population in Spain. It is normalised by adolescents who do not perceive it as something alarming. Even psychological forms of violence have been normalize according the main idea that jealousy is a sign of love. In relation to the assets that they used in their stories to solve conflict relationships, family, school and friendship-related assets were the most present in the video-capsules. Adolescents also show themselves able to deal with dating violence using personal skills such as problem-solving, assertiveness, empathy and communication habilities.
