Edoardo Massa from the Unimore - Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia spent one month in aim of the DryNet project in Chulalongkorn University in Thailand looking for new tardigrades species able to survive the dehydration.

Martina Lo Sterzo and Margherita Moncada from Experimental Embryology Laboratory UniTe / Università degli Studi di Teramo spend 2 months in Tsukuba, Japan of Agrobiological Sciences, NARO studying the genomic damage after desiccation and dehydration of the Pv11 cells as well as ability of the DNA repair.

Francesca Di Filippo has been seconded from Experimental Embryology of UniTe / Università degli Studi di Teramo to Chulalongkorn University. During her 6 months stay Francesca Di Filippo verified the effect of trehalose and trehalose hexaacetate on freezing and freeze drying of cat spermatozoa.

Abstract of Martina Lo Sterzo and Margherita Moncada PhD students from UniTe / Università degli Studi di Teramo has been selected as an oral presentation for the Società Italiana di Fisiologia Veterinaria (SOFIVET) during the 75° Congress of Società Italiana delle Scienze Veterinarie (SISVET) in Lodi (Italy). Margherita presents very prossiming data obtained during the DryNet project regarding long term storage of spin dried spermatozoa. The title of the presentation was "Fertility preservation of spin dried ram spermatozoa following 3 years storage at room temperature. Good job Girls :)

Luca Palazzese had been awarded a prestigious Fellowship by the Japan society for the promotion of science (JSPS). For the next 6 months Luca will be working in the laboratory of Prof. Teruhiko Wakayama (the most known cloner in the world) at the University of Yamanashi, Kofu (Japan). Luca will try to understand the role of Protamine 1 as the protector of somatic cell DNA during lyophilization. Congratulations Luca Palazzese 🥳👏💪

COVID lockdown actually was very productive for DRYNET Consortium. We have published 20 scientific articles 👍👩‍🔬🧑‍💻- all of them are open access.

Marta Czernik, was doing an international stay at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) thanks to the DryNet project 🌎🛩️. There, she met the colleague Edoardo Massa, from the Unimore - Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia and her student Francesca Di Filippo from UniTe / Università degli Studi di Teramo .
