✨🌌 ESA’s Euclid mission has captured the crowded heart of the Milky Way as never before ✨

🔭 Released today, the new image is the largest and most detailed visible-light view ever obtained of the centre of our Galaxy. It reveals more than 60 million stars in the Galactic bulge, together with nebulae and star clusters.

For scientists, this is not only a spectacular image: it is also a powerful dataset. Euclid’s observations will help study exoplanets through gravitational microlensing and open new windows on astrophysics beyond the mission’s core cosmological goals.

🫱‍🫲 SISSA is part of the Euclid Consortium, contributing to the scientific effort that will connect Euclid’s map of the Universe with other cosmological probes.

As part of the PRO-BEN project promoted by CUG, SISSA is hosting a community event on identity, work, and professional life in and beyond academia.

🗣️ Science communication in the wild

At SISSA, Professor Sarah Davies presents her latest work, questioning the idea that science communication is only about how knowledge reaches the public. Drawing on empirical research, the talk explores the many meanings these practices take on for those involved.

Focusing on the role of funding, precarity and scarcity, it highlights how material conditions shape both the experience and the purpose of science communication.

An invitation to look at science communication as it happens in practice, beyond idealised assumptions.

🗣️ The Empathy Algorithm: improving communication and workplace wellbeing

❓ How can communication become more effective in academic and professional environments? And how can misunderstandings and conflicts be prevented in high-performance teams?

💬 Based on the principles of Nonviolent Communication developed by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg, this workshop offers practical tools to foster clearer, more collaborative professional relationships.
The session will be led by Vid Tratnik, coordinator of the PRO-BEN Project activities at SISSA.
