✨🌌 ESA’s Euclid mission has captured the crowded heart of the Milky Way as never before ✨
🔭 Released today, the new image is the largest and most detailed visible-light view ever obtained of the centre of our Galaxy. It reveals more than 60 million stars in the Galactic bulge, together with nebulae and star clusters.
For scientists, this is not only a spectacular image: it is also a powerful dataset. Euclid’s observations will help study exoplanets through gravitational microlensing and open new windows on astrophysics beyond the mission’s core cosmological goals.
🫱🫲 SISSA is part of the Euclid Consortium, contributing to the scientific effort that will connect Euclid’s map of the Universe with other cosmological probes.
