Turin School of Development

Turin School of Development Founded in 2009, a unique partnership between the International Training Centre of the ILO, UN organizations and academia

Two decades ago, in October 1990, the ITC ILO, in collaboration with the University Institute for European Studies (IUSE) and with the support of distinguished faculty from the University of Turin and other major European universities, launched its pilot initiative for offering postgraduate learning opportunities to an international student body on selected topics of trade and development. The fir

st such offering was the postgraduate course on International Trade Law, which was announced at a special presentation ceremony at the Palais des Nations in Geneva in 1990. The success of this first course in its initial years created a momentum for developing new Masters through the same approach. New Masters were then created over the period in the main areas of development: in 2000 the Master in Management of Development and the Master of Law (LL.M) in Intellectual Property; in 2003 the Master in World Heritage at Work; in 2006 the Master in Public Procurement Management for Sustainable Development and the Postgraduate course on Occupational Health and Safety in the Workplace. At last, in 2010 the Master In Applied Labour Economics for Development was funded. Some of these masters have been created by mayor international organization like WIPO or UNESCO. With the creation of the Turin School of Development all the masters are now associated with the international organization competent in the respective area as described in the following pages.
