The question we keep hearing from training institutions is not whether to integrate . It is where to start, and how to do it without losing what makes good training good.

Check out the ITCILO's new tailor-made course designed to answer exactly that. Grounded in participatory learning methodologies, it brings individuals and institutions through the full training cycle with AI as a working tool at every stage (or not).

The programme can be delivered online, face-to-face, or in a blended format, co-designed with your organization to fit your context, your trainers, and your learners. If your institution is ready to move beyond the basics of digital learning, this is where that conversation starts.

Human AI collaboration and neurorights: reflections on shaping AI for the benefit of humanity, today.🇺🇳✨

On the occasion of the 2026 Academic Day of the Turin School of Development, Prof. Dr. Marcello Ienca (Technical University of Munich) shared his vision of the world's entry into the age of cognitive AI. One where the machines assisting humanity are participating in cognitive processes once uniquely performed by humans: from creativity to imagination, from exploration to storytelling.

Responsible AI governance holds the promise not only of preserving the human-centredness of current and future AI applications, but of ensuring that human–AI symbiosis remains mutualistic rather than parasitic. A future in which AI augments human creativity, autonomy, and flourishing, rather than reducing human beings to mere curators of knowledge they may never truly acquire.

A present of human-centred AI. A solid foundation for fair transitions, technology, and social justice.

What if your online learners could practise a difficult conversation, as many times as they need, without anyone on the other side getting tired of them?

At ITCILO, we have been piloting AI Avatars as learning tools, fictional characters with personalities, backstories, and the ability to hold an unscripted conversation. In one of our pilots, participants practised interview techniques by conversing directly with avatar characters online. The interaction was unscripted, the characters behaved consistently, and learners could try again as many times as they needed.

We have now launched our publication on AI Avatars in Learning, a practical, evidence-based guide for organisations ready to explore what this means for their own programmes. It covers real use cases, a step-by-step toolkit to build your own avatar, the pedagogy behind it, and honest lessons from our pilots.

"If we want to scale up across the entire organization, why not start our own innovation network within the organization?" - Tom Wambeke, ITCILO Chief of Learning Innovation

Over the past year, the International Labour Organization and ITCILO built something the organization had never seen before: a structured network for staff-led innovation, giving global field coordinators, technical officers, and specialists the space, the funding, and the community to turn ideas into working tools.

From a residential kick-off in Turin to virtual reality collaboration sessions, from prototypes presented at the International Labour Conference to the first-ever ILO Innovation Day, this is what scaling a culture of innovation looks like from the inside.
