L’ultimo giorno di AESOP Food… si va in gita! 🚶♀️🌿🍴
Sabato 24 ottobre, la XII Conferenza AESOP Sustainable Food Planning esce dalle aule per esplorare Venezia e la terraferma attraverso due itinerari di studio.
⛪ Gita 1 | Sulle orme di Marco e Francesco
Un percorso tra chiese e monasteri per scoprire un volto spesso poco conosciuto di Venezia: orti, giardini e spazi storicamente legati alla produzione alimentare. La visita ai siti francescani di San Francesco della Vigna e dei Frari è realizzata nell’ambito del progetto “Sulle orme di Marco e Francesco”, con il contributo della Diocesi di Venezia. Nell’anno dell’ottocentesimo anniversario della morte di San Francesco, l’itinerario consentirà inoltre di accedere ad alcuni luoghi normalmente chiusi al pubblico, offrendo una prospettiva inedita sul rapporto tra comunità religiose, cibo e paesaggio lagunare.
🥕 Gita 2 | La città di terraferma: i mercati di Mestre e Marghera
Dal quartiere giardino di Marghera al centro storico di Mestre, il percorso mette in relazione due parti molto diverse della città attraverso i loro mercati settimanali. Lungo il tragitto, negozi, attività di ristorazione, culture e cucine diverse raccontano un foodscape urbano plurale e in continua trasformazione. Un’ultima giornata per osservare la pianificazione del cibo direttamente sul territorio, attraverso paesaggi, mercati, comunità e spazi della vita quotidiana.

On the last day of AESOP Food… we’re going on a trip! 🚶♀️🌿🍴
On Saturday 24 October, the XII AESOP Sustainable Food Planning Conference will move beyond the conference rooms to explore Venice and the mainland through two study itineraries.
⛪ Trip 1 | In the Footsteps of Mark and Francis
A route through churches and monasteries to discover a lesser-known side of Venice: vegetable gardens, gardens, and spaces historically connected to food production. The visit to the Franciscan sites of San Francesco della Vigna and the Frari is organised as part of the project “In the Footsteps of Mark and Francis”, with the contribution of the Diocese of Venice. In the year marking the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, the itinerary will also provide access to places that are normally closed to the public, offering a fresh perspective on the relationship between religious communities, food, and the lagoon landscape.
🥕 Trip 2 | The mainland city: the markets of Mestre and Marghera
From the garden district of Marghera to the historic centre of Mestre, the route connects two very different parts of the city through their weekly markets. Along the way, shops, eateries, cultures, and cuisines tell the story of a diverse and constantly evolving urban foodscape. A final day to observe food planning directly on the ground, through landscapes, markets, communities, and the spaces of everyday life.
