2025年11月1日に東大の伊藤国際学術研究センターにて、インペリアルカレッジ日本同窓会の総会、講演会を開催し約40名が参加しました。

総会ではこの一年の活動報告や会員の状況、新たなロゴなどについて審議、報告を行いました。また、会長の改選が行われ、井上淳也が新会長に就任しました。

講演会は、ピント・イボンヌ博士による“Rice for Tomorrow: Transforming Production and Distribution for a Resilient World”がオンラインで.、そして、五十嵐剛志氏による「インパクト投資の歴史と国際的潮流ー日本の役割と可能性」がリアルで実施されました。

その後、ピアンタ本郷にてビュッフェスタイルの懇親会を講師の五十嵐氏も参加して開催し、最近の卒業生も含めた30名以上により交流を深めることができました。

残念ながら今回参加できなかった方も含めて来年またお会いすることを楽しみにしています。

On 1st November 2025, Imperial College Alumni Association Japan (ICAAJ) held an Annual General Meeting (AGM) and two Lectures for approximately 40 attendees at the University of Tokyo, Ito International Research Centre.

The AGM included activity reports for the year, accounting, changes to the committee member structure, new member registrations and developments to the new website. During the AGM Mr Junya Inoue was appointed as the new President of ICAAJ.

The first lecture was given online to attendees by Dr Yvonne Pinto, Director General, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) on “Rice for Tomorrow: Transforming Production and Distribution for a Resilient World”. The second lecture was given in-person by Mr Takeshi Igarashi, Investment Professional, KIBOW on “The History and Global Trends of Impact Investing: Japan's Role and Potential”. Both lectures were insightful and thought provoking, resulting in engaging question and answer sessions.

The event was concluded with a buffet style Party at Pianta Hongo, which was attended by 33 members including recent graduates and new members attending for the first time.

We look forward to welcoming all members to future ICAAJ events in 2026.

Dr Yvonne Pinto
Director General, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)

"Yvonne Pinto is Director General of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Yvonne has a BSc in Plant Sciences and Agriculture from Reading University, an MSc in Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Virology from Imperial College, and a General Management Executive Education from Cambridge University. She has a long career focused mainly on technology generation, innovation ecosystems, and international development."

Global Celebrations in Japan 2025 「国立公文書館見学」を開催しました。約30名の参加者にて企画展「万博―日本と博覧会の歴史―」と常設展を巡り、貴重な文書を通じて歴史に触れることができました。
その後の懇親会はスペインバル貸切で楽しい時間を過ごしました。ご参加いただきありがとうございました！

Global Celebrations 2025 in Japan was successfully held today. We visited the National Archives of Japan and touched history through the valuable documents they exhibit. We also had a great time together at a Spain Bar nearby. Thank you for joining us!

昨日11月30日（土）、Imperial College Alumni Association Japan（ICAAJ）2024年度総会、講演会、懇親会を東京大学伊藤国際学術研究センターにて開催しました。30名以上が参加し盛会となりました。

総会では、今期の活動を紹介する年次報告、会計報告、最新の会員状況に加えて、リニューアルしたウェブサイトについても審議承認されました。

講演会のお一人目はインペリアルカレッジロンドンの免疫工学の研究者で起業家の石原純先生でした。健康寿命を延ばすための癌治療の最新研究の概要、そして、科学研究と産業界や社会をつなぐ重要性についてお話いただきました。

2人目は、卒業生エンゲージメントのトップを務めるジョアン・ガードナー氏でした。インペリアルカレッジの新たなロゴを含めたブランドイメージ戦略やパブリックコミュニケーションの取り組みについて動画を交えながらご紹介いただきました。

懇親会は、東京大学 医学部教育研究棟13階にあるカポペリカーナで立食形式で実施しました。イギリスから帰国されて間もない初めて参加される方も含めた多世代、多様なバックグラウンドな方々の交流はとても有意義なものとなりました。

Imperial College Alumni Association Japan (ICAAJ) Annual General Meeting (AGM), Lectures and party were held at Ito International Research Centre B1F in University of Tokyo on Saturday 30th November. More than 30 members joined and the events were successful.

In the AGM, the activities report of the year, accounting report and members update were presented and the renewal of the web site was approved.

First lecture was provided by Dr Jun Ishihara, the researcher of the Department of Bioengineering, Imperial College London. He explained the cutting-edge research of cancer immunotherapy by his team to extend healthy life expectancy and the importance for scientists to communicate with industries and the public.

Second lecturer was Ms Joanne Gardner, Director of Alumni Engagement (interim), Imperial College London. She presented the updated public relations activities of the College including brand image strategy such as logo renewal and new promotion videos.

The following party was held in buffet style at Capo Pellicano in the Experimental Research Bldg., Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo. The attendees were from various fields and wide generations including some new young members who recently came back to Japan and we had a fruitful time together.

本日ICAAJは「Summer Event in Japan 2024」を東京大学伊藤国際学術研究センターにて開催し、Imperial College London（ICL）の卒業生や関係者など約３０名が集まりました。

このイベントは、この時期にICLの世界各国の同窓会が同時に開催するGlobal Celebration Eventの位置づけで行ったものです。

第一部の講演会では、ICL卒業生であり在日英国商工会議所会長のリチャード・ライル氏（Mr. Richard Lyle, President of British Chamber of Commerce in Japan）から、「Recent bilateral agreements between the UK and Japan and what it could mean for stronger research collaboration & trade ties between our two countries」というタイトルで、日英の貿易の歴史から始まり、現在の産学官の連携を具体例を交えてお話いただきました。

第二部は、東京大学構内にある人気の隠れ家的レストラン「カポ ペリカーノ」での懇親会で、講師のリチャード・ライル氏や参加者が交流を深め、楽しいひと時を過ごしました。

今回残念ながら参加できなかった方は、11月ごろに総会に合わせたイベントを開催するので、その時にお会いしましょう。
