We were delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed conductor Osmo Vänskä to Sophia University for a special masterclass with members of the Sophia Philharmonic Orchestra.

Made possible through a professional connection with Takao Kanayama, conductor of the Sophia Philharmonic Orchestra, the two-hour session provided students with invaluable guidance on Brahms’s Symphony No. 1 and deeper insights into musical interpretation, phrasing, and ensemble performance.

The experience offered a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the world's most respected conductors and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on the students as they continue their musical journey.
