On September 10, 2026, representatives from Temasek Polytechnic (TP), one of our university's partner institutions in Singapore, visited our campus. The delegation included the newly appointed Principal and CEO, Patrice Choong, as well as Teng Leng Lim (Director of International Affairs) and Katherina Tan (Assistant Manager).
During the meeting, Chairman Otani expressed gratitude, noting that TP continues to be a vital global partner for our university, and highlighted the close collaboration established through student exchanges. He also spoke of the significance of the joint initiative involving students from TP, our university, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, who collaborated on a robotic composting project exhibited at the ASEAN Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. President Murayama expressed his desire to further develop the partnership between the two institutions and expand meaningful international exchange opportunities for students and faculty alike. In response, Principal Choong expressed appreciation for the ongoing opportunities TP students have had to study at our university since the academic exchange agreement was signed in 2024; he also stated his intention to actively share TP’s practical educational methods, which align with Singapore’s national strategy of promoting the use of AI.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the Okuda Laboratory (Department of Life and Environmental Chemistry), which hosts TP students for laboratory internships. During discussions with TP students, Associate Professor Okuda, and Professor Akagi, the group exchanged views on research activities and internship outcomes, observing firsthand how the TP students are gaining valuable experience within a rich learning environment.
The visit provided an opportunity to deepen understanding of the university's latest educational and research activities and their achievements, while also fostering lively discussions on potential cooperation in areas like student exchanges, laboratory internships, and joint educational programs. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to a shared philosophy of providing students with rich international learning opportunities; they agreed to cherish the cooperative relationship between the two institutions and to advance initiatives that foster the learning and growth of students and faculty, as well as the furthering of innovation.
Moving forward, the university will continue to strengthen its cooperative ties with TP and other overseas partner institutions, dedicating itself to cultivating talent capable of playing an active role in the international community and promoting global education and research activities.
