On October 1, the 2024 Autumn Entrance Ceremony was held at Kami Campus. 9 students (3 from the master’s program and 6 from the doctoral program) took a step towards a new life at Kochi University of Technology (K*T). Congratulations to all t he new st udents on their enrollment!

Welcome Bus Tour was held on November 7th Tuesday. This tour was mainly for new international students who enrolled in October, and a total of 19 people, including 14 international students and 5 Japanese students who wished to engage in international exchange, participated in the tour. The international students, who had just arrived in Kochi, visited Kochi Castle, Kochi Castle Museum of History, and Katsurahama Beach to experience Kochi's history and culture and deepen their friendship with each other.

K*T conducted Japan Cultural Tour on January 22nd Sunday. 36 international and Japanese students joined this tour. During the tour, the participants made their first visit to Ushioe Tenmangu Shrine to learn how to pray at the shrine, visited Kochi Castle History Museum to see the arms and heirlooms of the Yamanouchi family, lords of the Tosa Domain, and then enjoyed watching a projection mapping at Kochi Castle.

On June 29th, 5 SSP students and Chair of IRC paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Kami City. Students talked with the Mayor about their student life in Kami City and conveyed their appreciation to the city. They also made some suggestions to the city. On the way back to K*T, students visited the Hachiro-some factory, a traditional Furafu factory in Kochi, to learn local culture.

A training room session was held at the gym on May 9, 2022.
17 students participated in this session to learn how to work out effectively. They tried to use exercise machines after a trainer demonstrated.
Hope exercising becomes a habit and stay healthy physically and mentally.

"2021 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony and Commencement Ceremony" were held on March 17 at the Kami Campus, where a total of 652 students (518 in the undergraduate program, 126 in the graduate program, and 8 in the doctoral program) received their degrees.

Special Scholarship Program (3 year doctoral program)
Each student pursues a doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting his/her host professor in his/her research projects and receiving monthly payment in return for his/her contribution to the projects. This program is for those who have strong intention to engage in his/her research projects for the whole three years acquiring profound knowledge and skill and ability to become a full-fledged researcher, and aspire to satisfy the degree requirements accordingly.

◆Benefit:
・Exemption from 30,000 yen entrance examination fee, 300,000 yen enrollment fee and 535,800 yen/year tuition fee
・To support living expenses, 150,000 yen/month is paid as salary for research project work.
*You must pay some amount of taxes from this salary.
・150,000 yen is provided for travel and initial living costs. (given only to international applicants who are living outside Japan, and who have, or have the intention to acquire, "Student" status of Japanese residence at the time of entry into Japan)
There are various SSP projects in the following fields.

Special Scholarship Program (3 year doctoral program)

Each student pursues a doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting his/her host professor in his/her research projects and receiving monthly payment in return for his/her contribution to the projects. This program is for those who have strong intention to engage in his/her research projects for the whole three years acquiring profound knowledge and skill and ability to become a full-fledged researcher, and aspire to satisfy the degree requirements accordingly. It is designed to help diligent and talented students with limited financial resources, especially foreign students from emerging countries, who are ready to devote themselves to the expected research and related studies for the coming three years so as to finally accomplish their academic goal.
