【国際交流キッズクラフト！】
3月7日（土）金沢国際交流財団にて、工作を通して外国人住民と小学生が国際交流するイベントを開催し、小学生15名と外国人ボランティア4名・国際交流員1名が工作をしながら交流を深めました。
工作のテーマは「すきな食べ物を持ち寄り、パーティしよう！」。
紙粘土や毛糸、色画用紙などを使って各々が自分の好きな食べ物を工作しました。
食に関連したテーマということで、外国人ボランティア・国際交流員からはそれぞれの母国（南アフリカ・マレーシア・ミャンマー・アメリカ）の料理の特徴やおすすめ料理を発表してもらい、世界の食文化についても学びました。
「からくて甘いドーナツ」など、こどもたちは日本にはない味に興味を持ったようです。
イベントの最後に全員の作品をテーブルに並べて「パーティの食卓」が完成！
お寿司、そば、オムライス、南アフリカのカレーパン、アメリカのタコス、ミャンマーの麺料理など…。
こどもたちの好物と外国人ボランティア・国際交流員作のめずらしい外国料理がテーブルに並び、夢の食卓となりました。
お互いの好きな食べ物についておしゃべりしながら楽しく工作ができ、にぎやかで楽しい一日となりました。
★Event Report★
【Global Kids Craft!】
On Saturday, March 7th, we held an event for elementary school students to enjoy cultural exchange with foreign residents through crafts at KIEF Plaza. Fifteen participants made their own works of art as they chatted with 4 foreign volunteers and 1 CIR.
The craft theme was “Let’s have a party with all our favorite foods!”, and everyone made a variety of treats out of clay, yarn, colored paper, etc.
To add to the culinary theme, participants also learned about international cuisine as the foreign volunteers and CIR each introduced unique dishes and meal etiquette from their home countries (South Africa, Malaysia, Myanmar, and America) and gave their own tasty recommendations. The children were fascinated by flavors not usually found in Japan, like “sweet and spicy donuts.”
Finally, everyone put their gourmet creations on the dinner table, and our party was complete! It was a huge spread that included sushi, soba, omelet rice, South African curry bread, American tacos, Burmese noodles, and much more. The children’s favorites alongside the presenters’ exotic foreign dishes created a truly dreamlike banquet!
It was an exciting day full of cultural exchange, crafts, food, and fun!
