March 10, 2023
The biannual internal laboratory conference, TECS Conference 2023, was successfully held. About 12 speakers shared their research progress with all laboratory members. This time, something different. Usually held online or hybrid, the TECS conference was conducted fully face-to-face. In the beginning, Prof. Miyazaki and Prof. Kyaw Thu gave opening remarks, presented our lab's research branches, and offered guidance on upgrading our research performance. During the presentations, everyone actively followed the discussion session and gained more knowledge about each other's work.

Kyushu University Open campus 2022 (Chikushi campus, Kasuga/Onojo city)

We had an Open Campus on last Saturday 21st of May. It has been a long time since so many local residents have visited our campus. Our laboratory showed some simple experiment related to our research: adsorption, heat pump, evaporative cooling and heat storage. Lots of people from children to elderly came to visit our laboratory and learned a lot about energy saving technologies!
If you are interested in our research and activities please leave a comment!
We are looking forward to seeing you again next year at the Open Campus 2023!

Many congratulations to Nisa-san for making us proud

Nisa-san, a PhD student from TECS lab, has done it again! She won the President Award (first place) for the poster competition in the Asia Week. Thank you Nisa-san for making us (TECS lab & IGSES) proud. We believe that this achievement will inspire all of us and look forward to further success. Kudos to Nisa-san and our members. Let's congratulate Nisa-san for her great achievement.

September 28, 2021

The 1st TECS Laboratory Conference was recently held successfully as a virtual event.
The aims of this conference were to help improve students' presentation skills whilst sharing their research progress with professors and laboratory members and to familiarize ourselves with the procedures and challenges involved in organizing a conference. The conference began with the opening speech by Prof. Miyazaki, Prof. Kyaw Thu, and Dr. Miksik. Before the participant presentations started, three Ph.D. students shared their unique experiences in publishing their research in international journals.

Moreover, Dr. Jie Lin from the University of Oxford, shared outstanding and valuable experiences from his journey as a researcher and discussed the M-Cycle and battery technologies, which is one of the core research topics at TECS Laboratory.

The conference allowed many of the students who are working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to not only share their research but also to finally meet many of the lab members and talk to them.

We would like to thank our professors for their continued guidance, Dr. Jie Lin for participating early in the morning from the UK, all the participants for their presentations and the organizing committee for a job well done.

We hope to see you during our next conference which we will keep you posted on.

Another Publication from TECS lab (September 2021)

Very glad that our PhD student, Ms. Chairunnisa (Nisa-san), just published a paper in Energy Reports. It is about the biomass based-activated carbon for adsorption dehumidification where the inner working of the activated carbon is tailored for the dehumidification. This is the outcome of the deep understanding and experimental know-how with excellent programming skill. As usual, high quality (genuine) work from TECS lab without recycling/re-searching/poaching of idea. Let's congratulate Nisa-san for this landmark achievement. Great work!

New publication from TECS lab (September 2021)

Our PhD student, Mr Sagar Saren (Sagar-san), just published a paper in Applied Energy (APEN). In this paper, a new adsorption desalination cycle has been introduced breaking the performance limit of MED (the most efficient thermal desalination method) upgrading the waste heat. This landmark publication will induce/promote many interest and follow up from the desalination industry/researchers. It's a great work (real breakthrough) with significant contribution and new idea! Let's congratulate Sagar-san for his achievement. The paper can be downloaded from the following link.

Multi-effect distillation (MED) systems are considered to be the most energy-efficient thermal desalination methods. This paper introduces the develop…
