Headline: From Classroom Theory to 152 Days of Social Implementation: A Success Story in Standardization Education.
I am proud to share that my students at Chubu University (ESD Eco-Money Team) have been honored with the Jury’s Special Award at the National Grand Prix for “Fundamental Competencies for Working Persons.”
What makes this achievement remarkable is the bridge they built between academic learning and practical social impact.
The Journey: From Theory to Practice
The students first mastered the principles of Standardization through their formal university curriculum. However, they didn’t stop at the classroom door. To apply what they learned, they dedicated 152 days to an extracurricular project, leading a student-driven initiative to promote standardization education in the real world.
Bridging Education and Social Implementation:
For 152 days, these students took full ownership of their activities:
• Curriculum Design: Developed original SDGs management materials based on ISO/UNDP PAS 53002.
• Strategic Leadership: Managed a unique “Relay System” between General Students and Student-Athletes (Baseball Club).
• Community Engagement: Reached 16,929 participants, including 20 hours of inquiry-based learning support for junior high students.
The Result: Developing Professional Competencies
This award specifically recognizes the significant growth in the students’ professional competencies (Fundamental Competencies) gained through this intensive 152-day period. By navigating real-world challenges, they acquired essential skills for working professionals—action, critical thinking, and teamwork.
They have proven that understanding the “logic of rules” (Standardization) is not just academic; it is a powerful tool for young leaders to drive measurable social change.
As their supervisor, it has been a privilege to see them evolve from students of standardization into practitioners who can navigate and influence the social landscape.
Congratulations to the team for proving the value of standardization education!
