女性の高等教育をめざす私塾「女子英学塾」として、1900年に産声を上げた津田塾大学。創立者・津田梅子は、女性の地位向上こそ日本の発展につながると信じて、「男性と協同して対等に力を発揮できる女性の育成」を目指し、女性の高等教育にその生涯を捧げました。
現代社会でも課題とされている“女性の活躍”において日本の近代化をリードし、大きく貢献したことが認められ、2024年に発行される新五千円券には、津田梅子の肖像が採用されます。

Tsuda University is a private institution of higher education for women with a history of more than 120 years since its founding. The College of Liberal Arts and the Graduate School are on the Kodaira Campus, which is surrounded by nature while conveniently located in the suburbs of Tokyo. The College of Policy Studies and the Teaching English as a Foreign Language graduate program are on the Sendagaya Campus. This is located in the heart of Tokyo near Shinjuku Gyoen, one of the city's largest and most popular parks.
