曽根造園の勉強会❗️
７月上旬に大覚寺側の鋏鍛冶 宮甚 野中鉄工さんにお邪魔して、鋏が出来るまでの説明と一部工程を見せていただきました！
会社内でも野中さんの鋏を使ってる人も何人かいて、番頭平木も野中さんの先代の鋏を使い続けています。
私にとっても手に馴染むかけがえのない鋏です。職人にとって道具はいい仕事をさせてくれる大事な物です。
造園業界でも人材不足になってきている現在、鋏鍛冶も同じく減ってきています。昔から続いてきている文化がなくなっていくのは悲しい事です。
鋏を自分で作ってみたいと想いを伝え、無理を言って見学させていただきました。
まだまだ先になりますが野中さんが元気な内に少しでも近づける様また色々教わりたいです！
Workshop at Nonaka Tekko
At the beginning of July, we visited Nonaka Tekko, an atelier of a well-known shear-making blacksmith which is located near Daikaguji Temple. At the atelier, Nonaka-san explained to us the process of making shears and demonstrated to us a part of the process.
In our company, a number of gardeners have used shears made by Nonaka Tekko. One of them is our head gardener, Hiraki-san. Hiraki-san’s pair of shears was made by Nonaka-san’s deceased father. I myself have used the product of Nonaka Tekko. It is such an irreplaceable tool, fitting comfortably in my hand.
For us, craftsmen、excellent tools are important because without them, we cannot achieve good work.
These days the landscaping industry faces manpower-shortage and the number of shear-making blacksmiths are decreasing as well. This is an indication that our traditional culture and craftsmanship are rapidly disappearing, a reality that fills us with deep concern.
The situation which I just shared urged us to think of making shears by ourselves. And that is the reason why we requested Nonaka-san to let us visit his atelier.
Now we want to learn as much as possible from Nonaka-san while he is active. We understand it is still a long way to go, but we want to reach as close as possible to the level of Nonaka-san’s craftsmanship.
