📚May Lunch Seminar
On May 27, the International University of Japan Research Institute (IRI) hosted its May Lunch Seminar.

The seminar featured Associate Professor Robert F. Kane from the Graduate School of International Relations, who delivered a presentation titled:
“Quality Improvement, Cost-Reduction, and the Environment.”

Based on Kane and Pertetto (JET, 2020), the talk explored how transportation, quality improvement, and cost-reducing R&D relate to energy consumption and environmental sustainability. One key insight was that improving quality can increase service value without requiring additional transportation, potentially supporting more environmentally sustainable growth.

Despite overlapping with another campus event, around 15 students and faculty members attended. The seminar sparked lively discussion, with so many questions from participants that the Q&A session had to be cut short due to time constraints.

Sincerely thanks Professor Kane and everyone who joined the seminar.
