We carried out a field survey along the Asahi River, exploring the river environment and measuring the distance from our university to Okayama Castle.

2026/3/25 今日は卒業式でした。私たちの研究室からは2名の学生が卒業しました。あいにくの雨模様でしたが、心は晴れやかで、安堵感と未来への期待感に満ち溢れていました。本当におめでとうございます🎉

Today was our graduation ceremony. Two students from our lab graduated. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful day filled with relief and hope for the future. Congratulations and best wishes for your next journey!!!

2/22 We joined the Soja Kibiji Marathon today! We originally had two runners from our lab, but one had to sit out. Our student — running her first-ever half marathon and first race — crushed it and finished strong! Amazing support along the course, great aid stations, perfect weather… such an awesome event.
そうじゃ吉備路マラソンに参加してきました。研究室からは２名参加予定でしたが、残念ながら1名欠場でした。初めてのハーフマラソンだった(初めてこう言う大会に参加した)様ですが、しっかり最後まで走り切っていました！沿道の応援やエイドも素晴らしく、天気も良くて、最高のイベントでした♪

2026/2/18 今日は環境マネジメントコースの卒業論文発表審査会でした。私たちの研究室からは２名発表しました。約1年間続けて来た研究の成果をしっかり分かりやすく発表できたと思います。お疲れ様でした。
We had our graduation thesis presentations for the Environmental Management Course today. Two members from our lab took the stage. They did a fantastic job sharing the results of their hard work over the past year in an easy-to-understand way. Way to go!

2025/12/20 4月に博士号を取得したDanielさんの博士論文の一部がEnergy Nexusから出版されました。この論文「Assessing water resources availability and crop performance under climate change in Kenya's Bura irrigation scheme using SWAT and AquaCrop」は、この論文は、SWAT・AquaCrop 連携モデルにより、CO₂影響を含む将来気候下での水循環と作物応答の変化を解析した研究です。オープンアクセスなので、ぜひ読んでください。
A part of Daniel’s PhD thesis, who obtained his doctoral degree in April, has been published in Energy Nexus.
This paper analyzes changes in water circulation and crop responses under future climate conditions, including the effects of CO₂, using a coupled SWAT–AquaCrop modeling framework.
As it is an open-access paper, we hope you will take a look.

2025/11/9 研究室の森川君と岡山マラソンに出てきました。前日と翌日は晴れなのに、マラソン中だけ雨と言う状況の中、無事完走できました。研究室OGのお二人が応援に駆けつけてくれました！
We joined the Okayama Marathon together with Morikawa-kun from our lab. Although it was sunny the day before and after, it rained only during the marathon — but we still managed to finish safely! Two of our lab’s alumnae came out to cheer us on!

2025/11/1 ホームカミングデイにて修士2年の森川君が「大学院博士前期課程での 2 年間」について発表してくれました。インドネシアでの調査研究やフランスUSMBでの留学経験に関する内容も含まれていて、充実した大学院生活を送っている様子が伺えました。とても刺激的でワクワクする発表でした。
At the Homecoming Day event, Mr. Morikawa, a second-year master’s student, gave a presentation on “Two Years in the Master’s Program.” His talk included his research and fieldwork in Indonesia, as well as his study-abroad experience at USMB in France, giving us a sense of how fulfilling his graduate school life has been. It was a very inspiring and exciting presentation.

2025/10/9 このたび、2人のPhD学生が無事に博士号を取得しました！🎉
1人はベトナムからの留学生、もう1人は仕事を続けながら博士課程を修了された社会人学生です。
2人ともベトナムを対象とし、水資源の持続的な管理に関する研究に取り組みました。
お二人とも、本当におめでとうございます！👏🇻🇳

We’re so happy to share that two of our PhD students have successfully earned their degrees! 🎉
One was an international student from Vietnam, and the other completed the program while working full-time.
Both focused their research on Vietnam, contributing to the sustainable management of water resources.
Congratulations to both of you on this wonderful achievement! 👏🇻🇳

2025/9/29 1週間にわたるインドネシア・スマトラ島バトゥテギダム流域の調査が無事終わり、帰路につきました。今回は、嶋先生、嶋先生のM1学生、中野先生、私たちの研究室M2森川君の計５名で実施しました。コーヒー栽培地の土壌採取、河川流速測定、バイオ炭作成など、充実した調査となりました。

The week-long survey of the Batutegi Dam watershed area on Sumatra Island, Indonesia, has been successfully completed, and we have started our journey home. This time, the team consisted of Professor Shima, Professor Shima’s first-year master’s student, Professor Nakano, and Morikawa-kun, a second-year master’s student from our laboratory—five members in total. The survey was fulfilling, including soil sampling in coffee plantations, river flow velocity measurements, and biochar production.
