Yesterday was Dwiky Rendra Subekti’s last day in our lab and he has been an extremely important asset over the last 7 years. We sincerely wish him all the best as he embarks on a new life as a member of the society and thank him for all his effort in trying to unravel the magic of the protein world.

As winter fades into spring, we wish you safe health in this pandemic! :)

Celebration time!

3rd year doctoral student from Indonesia Dwiky Rendra Graha Subekti, was awarded the prestigious Aoba Science Prize by the Aoba Society for Promotion of Science at Tohoku University.

Dwiky’s research topic ‘Transient binding and non-rotational coupled motion of p53 revealed by sub-millisecond resolved single-molecule fluorescence tracking’ is novel and ground breaking in its approach.

We at Takahashi laboratory are extremely happy and proud of this achievement!

At the 57th Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan in Miyazaki last month, D2 student Dwiky Rendra Subekti and B4 student Trish*t Banerjee were awarded the Student Presentation Award!

They were two of the 40 students awarded amongst 131 applicants from all over Japan for their work on 'Observation of Tumor Suppressor p53 Search Dynamics using Sub-millisecond Resolved Single-molecule Fluorescence Microscopy' and 'Engineering of genome editing protein Cas9 that slides along DNA faster and might enable efficient target search' respectively.

Heartiest congratulations to them!

Last evening, we hosted a welcome party for the 3 new students and a farewell party for Itoh-san (post-doctoral candidate).

We put together our skills in grilling meat on skewers and making Takoyaki (Octopus balls/dumplings, for the lack of a better term)!

We have kicked off the new year and hope that this spring brings peace, prosperity and good health for all.

Spring is almost here and so is the new semester! We are soon having new friends join us in our quest to reveal the secrets of the protein world.

To welcome them, we are getting ready for a welcome party this Friday. We are so excited to start the new year and the new era with lots of fun and enthusiasm.

As the Heisei era steps into autumn and Reiwa era into spring, we wish you success and prosperity in all that you plan to accomplish this year 🙂

Last Wednesday, Prof. Tobin Sosnick of University of Chicago visited the Takahashi laboratory. His research; as he summarises, deals with "synergistic studies of protein and RNA folding, function and design, with both experimental and computational approaches."

There were several interesting discussions that took place which pushed young researchers to explore their curiosity about protein folding.
