Today, our TUJ community celebrated Otsukimi, the traditional Japanese moon-viewing festival, with some delicious seasonal sweets!⁠

Students had the chance to try a variety of Japanese treats while learning about the flavors and traditions behind them:⁠

🍡 みたらしだんご (Mitarashi Dango) — Dango with a sweet soy sauce glaze⁠
🍡 つぶあん草だんご (Tsubuan Kusa Dango) — Green mugwort dango with chunky sweet red bean paste⁠
🍡 こしあんだんご (Koshian Dango) — Dango with smooth sweet red bean paste⁠
🐰 うさぎぽてと (Usagi Potato) — Rabbit-shaped sweet potato⁠

Jess came to Temple University Japan with a background in psychology and chose the one year Master’s in Management (MIM) program to expand her knowledge into the world of business.⁠

One of the things that attracted her to the program was that students don't need to come from a traditional business background. Her cohort included people with backgrounds in psychology, computer science, IT, sales, and more, with classmates from countries around the world.⁠

日本語は下記・It was an honor to welcome Taro Kono, Member of the House of Representatives, to Temple University Japan for the inaugural ceremony of our new Hillside Center. ⁠

In his remarks, Mr. Kono spoke about the U.S.-Japan relationship, Japan’s role in a connected world, and the importance of preparing the next generation to engage with global challenges.⁠
⁠
Our students also had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with Mr. Kono, making the occasion a valuable opportunity for dialogue and exchange.⁠
⁠
We are grateful for his insights and for taking the time to celebrate this important milestone with us. As TUJ continues to prepare students for the global stage, we look forward to seeing how our community continues to connect, learn, and make an impact in Japan and around the world. ⁠

テンプル大学ジャパンキャンパスの新しいヒルサイドセンターの竣工記念式典に、衆議院議員の河野太郎氏をお迎えできたことを、大変光栄に思います。

ご挨拶の中で河野氏は、日米関係、つながりの深まる世界における日本の役割、そして次世代を担う若者たちが、グローバルな課題に向き合うための準備をすることの重要性をお話しくださいました。

また、TUJの学生たちも河野氏に質問をしたり、直接交流したりする機会に恵まれ、貴重な対話と意見交換の場となりました。

この大切な節目をともにお祝いし、貴重なご知見を共有してくださった河野氏に、心より感謝申し上げます。

TUJはこれからも、学生たちがグローバルな舞台で活躍できるよう学びの機会を提供していきます。日本、そして世界で、私たちのコミュニティがつながり、学び、社会に貢献していく姿を楽しみにしています。

As part of the Hillside Center Grand Opening Reception, we created a time capsule to capture a snapshot of TUJ at this important moment in our history.⁠
⁠
Inside are items representing our community, our connections, and the world around us in 2026. These include messages written by TUJ students, faculty, and staff, as well as memorabilia from TUJ Kyoto, Kawasaki, the U.S. Embassy, student organizations, and beyond.⁠
⁠
The time capsule will be sealed at Hillside Center and opened in 16 years, when TUJ celebrates its 60th anniversary in Japan.⁠
⁠
What will TUJ look like then? What will have changed, and what will remain the same?⁠
⁠
We’re leaving a little piece of today behind for the TUJ community of tomorrow. ⁠
