We experienced calligraphy, tea ceremony, yukata (Japanese summer kimono) and lunch-making. Afterwards, we went to visit the Kikusui Sake Brewery. At the end of the day, we enjoyed a fun day at Niigata Station, where we played freely. We wish we a wonderful day tomorrow.

We are extremely lucky to participate in the Kakehashi Project 2023-24 again this year.
This year a group of 14 students are coming to our campus on March 6th and we will have Japanese cultural workshops planned. We will go to Kikusui Sake Brewery, then off to a night out in Niigata city. The next day on the 7th, we will guide them in Shibata city.

It's so exciting to be able to meet the Howard students!

Before the arrival of Howard Students on Kakehashi project next week, we had a last meeting. Everyone was working hard. We are very much looking forward to meeting the students from Howard University. We really want them to have a great time in Shibata!

The guide team went to Shimizuen to prepare for their tour. The weather was nice and carps were swimming pleasantly. The view from the garden is so beautiful. We hope Howard students can feel Wabi-Sabi at this place.

Two of the guide team we went to Shimizuen to learn about the place and preparation for their English guide. It's our first time giving a tour guide in English, so we have to study a lot.

We visited the Shibata catle and Shimizuen to prepare for our English guide tour. It's fun learning about new things, but it's difficult to tell others especially in English. The weather was beautiful, so we hope it will be sunny on March 7th when Howard students come to Shibata city.

視察のために新発田城と清水園を訪れました。天気も良く、カモたちも気持ちよさそうに泳いでいました。当日も晴れてくれるよう願っています。

As part of the Action Plan, a presentation on the Kakehashi Project was given at the University's Chapel Assembly Hour. Three students presented in front of an audience of over 200 people, both in person and online. Although the audience was mainly freshmen , we were pleased that they were inspired and interested in studying abroad and learning a foreign language.

アクションプランの一環として、本学のチャペルアッセンブリアワーにてカケハシプロジェクトのプレゼンテーションを行いました。対面とオンライン合わせて200名を超えるオーディエンスの前で、学生3名が発表しました。オーディエンスの中心は一年生でしたが、彼らが刺激を受け、留学や外国語学習に興味を持ってくれると嬉しく思います。

As part of the Action Plan, we appeared on the radio to talk about our experiences with the Kakehashi Project. In the radio program, "we talked to two of the participating members, Hiroki Kannami and Misaki Kashiwagi, about what they learned, reported and realized while there, as well as the delicious food, scenery and interesting experiences they had". Recently, senior students celebrated their graduation! Congratulations to all of them 👏🏻🌸 Students and teachers at Keiwa are both happy for their achievement but to but sad to see them go. We wish them a very happy beginning of their new chapter, and hope they have a great future ahead of them ✨

Thank you for coming to Japan and thank you for four days in Niigata. We’ve shared new experiences, made new friends, created some wonderful memories, and learned a lot. We are definitely being “Kakehashi” between the US and Japan.🇺🇸🇯🇵 It was an honor to be with you all.

We’re wishing your flight home will be safe and comfortable. We are so happy to HU students enjoying our home country. Believe that we will see each other again 🤝🏻
