Pre-Open Party at the University Hall Restaurant

A welfare organization‚ "Kosei-kai"‚ consist of students and university staff has started a new welfare program since 2012.
The details of the project are posted on the university's website. It plans to improve cafeterias and restaurants on campus to meet the diversified demand of foreign students and visitors from abroad. Each cafeteria and restaurant is supposed to vary with location‚ including its food menu.

A pre-opening party of "Tsukuba Demi"‚ a restaurant at the Restaurant Plaza in the University Hall was held at 18:00 on April 4. It is scheduled to be open on April 9‚ the day of the entrance ceremony.
Nearly 200 students and faculty staff participated in the party.

After a new subcontractor provided a brief introduction to a new store‚ President Nobuhiro Yamada made a congratulatory speech. He expressed his wish for the success of the Demi‚ and hoped that many people would make use of it. The participants made a toast‚ led by Vice President Suzuki (chairman of Kosei-kai)‚ and had a pleasant talk with each other.

We look forward to many people making use of cafeterias and restaurants on campus.

작년도부터 쓰쿠바대학의 브랜딩 추진사업의 하나로서 제작을 진행해 온, 메시지 송「IMAGINE THE FUTURE ~ 未来を想え」뮤직비디오 DVD 2012년판이 완성되었습니다.
이 메시지 송은, 작년도에, 쓰쿠바대학 개학이념, 그리고 「미래구상대학(未来構想大学)」으로서의 방향성을 내외에 어필하기 위해, 쓰쿠바대학을 잘 알고, 광고업계, 음악계에서 활약하고 있는 OB의 협력을 얻어 제작된 것에 더하여, 캠퍼스의 자연과 건물을 포함해, 쓰쿠바대학 다움을 강조하고, 또한, 영어버전을 도입하는 등, 더욱 알찬 내용으로 이루어졌습니다.
지금부터 사회에 나가게 되는 졸업생과 새롭게 맞이하는 입학생에게 쓰쿠바대학이 보내는 응원으로서, 그리고 대학에 관계하고 있는 분들에게 쓰쿠바대학이 미래구상대학인 것에 대한 생각을 전달하기 위한 메시지 송으로서 배포되어집니다. 각계에서 활약하고 있는OB외에, 야마다 노부히로 학장을 비롯해, 학생, 직원 등 250명이 자발적으로 출연하고 있습니다.
또한, 촬영, 편집, 재킷라벨 디자인은, 예술계의 무라카미 후미아키 조교와 예술전문학군 학생이 직접 제작하였습니다.

Tsukuba Science City - an excellent environment for research and study

The Tsukuba Science City is located at the center of Tsukuba City, 60 km northeast of Tokyo. Tsukuba Science City has about 60 educational and research organizations such as the University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba University of Technology, and High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, in 2,700 hectare-city area.

本学の校章「五三の桐葉型」は1903年に改定された東京高等師範学校生徒徽章に始まり，1949年製作の東京教育大学学生バッジにも受け継がれました。1974年本学評議会において「紋章については東京教育大学の伝統を引き継ぎ」桐の葉とすることが了承されました。
「五三の桐」と呼ばれる図形には，我が国の伝統的な紋章一般がそうであるように多くのヴァリエーションがありますが，本学の校章は花の部分のみ「蔭」（アウトライン）で表される独特のものです。 筑波大学の校章，大学名書体，基本色などの表現要素を許可なく使用することを禁じます。

ドイツ連邦共和国，マルティン・ルター・ハレ・ヴィッテンベルク大学との大学間交流協定を締結

３月14日，マルティン・ルター・ハレ・ヴィッテンベルク大学のフォリヤンティ・ヨースト副学長が山田信博筑波大学長を表敬訪問するとともに，同大学との大学間交流協定を締結しました。これまで本学は社会科学分野おける共同研究など同大学との学術交流を深めてきました。今回の大学間交流協定の締結により従来の学術交流に加え，新たに学群・学類レベルを含む学生交流を促進するとともに，理系の分野からも数理物質科学研究科を筆頭に全学的な交流拡大が期待されます。
　また，協定締結に引き続き，具体の交流計画について懇談を行い，研究者交流，短期交換留学プログラム及びサマープログラム等について意見交換が行われました。筑波大学・ドイツ学術交流会（DAAD）パートナーシッププログラムや筑波大学ボン事務所の機能を活用しながら，今後ともマルティン・ルター・ハレ・ヴィッテンベルク大学との学術交流及び学生交流を推進していく予定です。

生命グローバル30野外実習・JTP生物学セミナーを開催

３月12日～16日，生命グローバル30英語コース“Laboratory and Field Studies in Land Biology”と筑波大学留学生センターの学生を対象とした短期留学生プログラム「JTP Seminar in Biology I」のタイアップ実習が開講されました。この実習は典型的な中部山岳地帯の積雪期における動物を中心とした生物の生き様に触れ，生物に対しての認識を深めることを目的としています。中国１名，ラトビア１名，タイ２名，筑波大学生物学類の日本人学生５名と人数は少なかったですが，国際交流の観点からも非常に有意義で楽しい実習となりました。－20度前後，もぐりやすい雪質で例年になくきつい雪中活動でしたが，その分，厳冬期にたくましく生きる動物たちの生き様が強く印象付けられました。

There are three Nobel Laureates at University of Tsukuba. Dr.SHIRAKAWA Hideki, the former President of the university is one of the Nobel Laureates at University of Tsukuba.

A forerunner of this university was Tokyo University of Education (東京教育大学, Tōkyō kyōiku daigaku) originally founded in 1872 as one of the oldest universities in Japan,Tokyo Higher Normal School (東京師範学校, Tōkyō Shihan Gakkō). The current university was moved to Tsukuba and renamed in October, 1973.

新構想大学と謳われてきた筑波大学も，開学以来30有余年。初心を忘れず，しかも常に時代を先駆ける大学を目指して，努力を続けています。
