🌟 Paying It Forward: From Student Leadership to Corporate 🌟

This evening, I have the honor of speaking with our future leaders from various higher learning institutions who are participating in our Emerge Global Mentorship Program. Launched in 2023 during the East African Employability Summit and Uongozi Career Awards, this program is dedicated to preparing future-ready student leaders through mentorship, training, and experience sharing.

It is worthy noting that it was through my student leadership journey that Corporate Career Academy was conceived. Eleven years later, we are on a journey to empower the next generation of leaders.

I look forward to sharing my journey as a student leader, discussing my challenges, and explaining how the skills I learned have shaped my current role. It's all about giving back and helping to pave the way for the next generation of leaders.

Gen Z's Perspective: Governance and Transparency as Connectivity 🌐

Generation Z, born and raised in the era of the internet and mobile connectivity, views governance and transparency through a unique lens. For them, the lack of transparency and accountability in governance is akin to experiencing slow or unstable internet connectivityβ€”frustrating and unacceptable. πŸ“‰

This generation has grown up with instant access to information, seamless communication, and real-time updates. They expect the same level of efficiency and openness from their leaders and institutions. When transparency is lacking, it feels like a disruptive lag in a world where speed and clarity are paramount. ⚑

For Gen Z, transparency isn't just a preference; it's a necessity. Just as a dropped call or a buffering video disrupts their daily lives, opaque governance erodes their trust and engagement. They demand clear, honest communication and swift accountability from those in power. This expectation stems from their constant interaction with technology, where every action is traceable and every mistake is quickly addressed. πŸ“²πŸ”

Understanding Gen Z's mindset is crucial. To them, transparency and accountability are not abstract concepts but essential components of a functional systemβ€”much like a stable internet connection is to their daily routines. If we fail to meet these expectations, we risk losing their trust and participation. πŸš«πŸ“‰

Lessons for Corporate Leaders:

1️⃣ Prioritize Transparency πŸ—£οΈ: Just as Gen Z expects transparency in governance, they expect it in the corporate world. Share company performance, decision-making processes, and changes openly.

2️⃣ Embrace Accountability βœ”οΈ: Hold yourself and your team accountable. Acknowledge mistakes and take corrective action promptly.

3️⃣ Leverage Technology πŸ’»: Use digital tools to communicate effectively. Keep employees informed and engaged with real-time updates and feedback mechanisms.

4️⃣ Foster Open Communication πŸ’¬: Create an environment where employees feel comfortable voicing their opinions and concerns. Encourage dialogue and be responsive to feedback.

5️⃣ Adapt to Change πŸ”„: Stay agile and responsive to new technologies and trends. Gen Z values innovation and expects their workplace to be at the forefront of technological advancements.

6️⃣ Promote Work-Life Balance βš–οΈ: Recognize the importance of work-life balance. Gen Z values flexibility and well-being, so offer policies that support these priorities.

To effectively engage with Generation Z, we must adopt the principles of transparency and accountability they value so highly. Just as they expect their online experiences to be smooth and uninterrupted, they demand the same from governance and corporate leadership. Embracing this perspective can help bridge the gap and foster a more connected, trustworthy relationship with this influential generation. 🌍🀝

Dear National Police Service , Director of criminal investigation kenya, Kithure Kindiki , Raymond Omollo we are seriously sad at how your officers at Nyali, Mombasa conducted investigations into the sudden death of Oscar Ridley Owino. While it is very clear that Oscar's life was terminated, the suspect, a 39 year old woman is free and enjoys massive protection from your officers stationed at Nyali police station. The investigations were shoddy to an extent that the postmortem results tells a different story from what the suspect gave. Moreover upto date, the DCi have not even bothered to review the CCTV footage of what transpired on the fateful night. The police did not even interrogate the security guard of the apartment who was on duty that night. More painful is that the police cannot arraign the suspect in the pretext of lack of evidence, one then wonders how they were going to get evidence without investigations At the end, we have lost a very bright harmless gentleman, very humble and hardworking at the hands of a rogue woman who is said to be enjoying massive protection from your officers and is wealthy. The wheels of justice are expeditiously grinding to a halt and the thought of getting justice is fading each day. Japheth Koome we demand for a thorough investigation into how Oscar met his death. All we want is accountability and justice. It has not been easy for the family, us friends and relatives who knew Oscar. This is not politics, this is a serious matter touching on life
