Once again, University of Kabianga delivered an impressive performance at the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) tournament held at Rongo University on 3rd-4th October, 2026, where they competed against Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Maseno University, Kibabii University, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Kaimosi Friends University, Alupe University, Rongo University and Turkana University College.

​UoK emerged Position 1 overall in Long Races and Cross Country while securing Position 2 in Chess and Scrabble. Rugby Men and Badminton teams also put up great performances throughout the tournament.

​Congratulations to the student-athletes, captains and Sports Department staff for keeping the University of Kabianga's flag flying high.

University of Kabianga's Environmental Club held a campus clean-up exercise on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, bringing together students in a hands-on effort to promote environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Equipped with gloves, collection buckets and protective gear, the students cleaned key areas of Main Campus, collecting litter and clearing debris.

The initiative reflected the University’s commitment to environmental conservation while encouraging students to take an active role in creating a clean, green and healthy learning environment..

University of Kabianga was represented at the African Universities Student Leadership Conference (AUSC) 2026, held at Moi University from 29th September to 1st October, 2026.

The delegation included Dr. Peter Ngugi (Dean of Students) together with the 11th Student Governing Council Silas Kipkorir (Chairperson), Floridah Chepkirui (Vice-Chairperson) and Weldon Kiprotich (Secretary General).

The conference brought together student leaders from universities across Africa to discuss effective leadership, good governance, collaboration and issues affecting students in higher education.

Through the engagement, the University delegation gained an opportunity to share experiences, learn from peers and explore ideas that can contribute to meaningful student leadership and representation.

University of Kabianga has commenced construction and improvement of its internal access roads, marking a significant step in the development of its physical infrastructure.

The project follows the introduction of Nzavi Platinum Limited, the contractor undertaking the works by an engineer from the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA). The engagement allowed the University to familiarize itself with the contractor and the scope of the project before construction began.

The works will improve access to key facilities and sections of the University, particularly during periods of heavy rains.

As construction progresses, the University will work with the contractor and relevant stakeholders to ensure the works meet the required standards while minimizing disruption to normal operations.

The University appreciates the collaboration of KURA, Nzavi Platinum Limited and other stakeholders in supporting the project and looks forward to its successful completion.

The University of Kabianga sports team participated in the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) regional qualifiers on 26th-27th September, 2026 at Maseno University. The team clinched second position overall in Baseball5, won several individual medals in Woodball and actively took part in Ultimate Frisbee. Korfball and American Football Team Members attended for observation to gain insights for future competitions. Both Baseball5 and Woodball Teams secured their slots for the national stage.

​The proceeding Teams will head to Meru University for the KUSF Emerging Sports Tournament 2026 on 3rd-4th October, 2026. The tournament will feature Baseball5, American Football, Flag Football, Kho-Kho, Ultimate Frisbee, Pool, Woodball, Korfball, Kabaddi, Floorball, Rollball and Lacrosse.

Dr. Peter Ngugi (Dean of Students), Inspector Chadwick Amunze (Head of Security) and former leaders of the 10th Student Governing Council (SGC) of University of Kabianga have graduated as Certified Professional Mediators.The certification follows an intensive training programme on Mediation at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies.

​The former Student Governing Council was represented by Alan Kipkoech (Chairperson), Sydney Karwitha (Vice- Chairperson)and Charles Kepha Ogalo (Secretary-General). Their participation alongside key administrative officers highlights a shared commitment to developing strong, empathetic leadership within the university community.

​The training equipped the trainees with vital negotiation and conflict resolution skills to foster harmony, open dialogue and peaceful co-existence across the University.

University of Kabianga (UoK) coaches and student captains from various sporting disciplines are attending the Captains and Coaches Annual Sports Leadership Workshop at Tom Mboya University, running from 22nd - 23rd September, 2026.

The workshop, themed “Leading On and Off the Field: Empowering University Sports Leaders,” focuses on strengthening leadership, teamwork, communication and sports management skills, with a strong emphasis on inclusive sports and opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The University delegation is also gaining valuable insights through practical sessions and knowledge-sharing, with participation from UoK coaches including Prof. Andrew Kosgei (Athletics Coach), Mr. Erick Makokha (In-charge, Indoor Games & PWD Sports), Mr. Abraham Ongonga (Games Tutor & Secretary, KUSF), Mr. Samuel Kongani (Coach, Women’s Soccer) and Ms. Beatrice Rutoh (Coach, Hockey).

The skills and knowledge gained will be shared with their respective teams, helping to strengthen sports leadership and development across University of Kabianga.
