Turning Sustainability into Impact

Nelly Ndenya is a Sustainability and Climate Finance professional driven by a passion for environmental stewardship, community development, and meaningful global impact. Her journey reflects how strong academic foundations, mentorship, and bold ambition can translate into transformative change.

She began her path at Machakos University, earning a degree in Environmental Studies (Community Development), where her interest in sustainability and climate action took shape. Seeking to deepen her impact, Nelly pursued an international Master’s degree in Environment, Development, and Sustainability at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand under the Thailand International Postgraduate Program. Her research on Global Sustainable Living Policies gained recognition and strengthened her expertise in climate finance, sustainability strategy, and partnerships.

Today, Nelly serves as a Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer at CorpsAfrica/Kenya, leading efforts to mobilize resources and build strategic partnerships that support community-driven development across Kenya and beyond.

She credits much of her journey to mentorship, particularly the guidance of Dr. Nzeve and Dr. Okello from Machakos University, whose support helped open doors to international opportunities. Nelly encourages students to dream boldly, seek mentorship, and trust that the education they are building today can empower them to create lasting impact—locally and globally.

Agnes Lokoro is a proud alumni of Machakos University and Kenyan living in the United Kingdom and the newly crowned Face of Kenya UK 2025. Originally from Turkana County, she has always carried with her a deep love for her culture, community, and heritage.
She pursued Masters in Agroforestry and Food Security in the UK where she developed not only professional skills but also a passion for uplifting the livelihood challenged communities in Africa. Beyond her career, she has been actively involved in community and charity services focusing on education mentorship, livelihoods enhancement and girl child hygiene promotion. Winning Face of Kenya UK has given her a unique opportunity to celebrate Kenyan culture while amplifying voices in the diaspora. Through this platform, she hopes to inspire young people, promote education, strengthen diaspora ties and support charities
Her vision is to continue being a cultural ambassador, bridging the gap between Kenya and the diaspora.

On the 17th to 28th September,2025.The Machakos University Alumni held a free medical camp led by our Alumni Mr . Enock Ngei, together with the leadership of the Alumni Association in collaboration with the service provider,Aster Health Care Hospital.
The event was even made more special by the visit of the University Deputy Vice Chancellor- Administration, Planning and Finance - Professor Florence Memba ,who officially launched the event, and congratulated the Alumni,for showing their effort in taking up their role in giving back.
We were pleased to have Mr William Nyette, the Vice Chairperson of the Alumni Association,who gave a distinct support by attending, this was a positive gesture to other Alumni and the University.
The event was a powerful reminder of the impact Machakos University continues to make beyond the classroom. From students to trailblazers, our Alumni forge legacies of excellence, powered by resilience and driven by purpose, which defines our Alumni.
As we approach our 10th graduation and we celebrate a decade of graduates' legacy who went through the halls and the light they cast on the world.
