Multimedia University of Kenya's Main Campus is located in a serene environment 25 Km south of Nairobi along Magadi road, a kilometer away form Ongata Rongai town and stands on 115 ha of land. MMU, in collaboration with the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF), have continued to advance research in transport governance in Sub-Saharan Africa with a two-day hybrid international workshop titled “Theories, Methods and Findings in Research on Transport and Mobility Governance: Exploring Ongoing MID-UTA Work."

The workshop, running from October 1 - 2, 2026, brings together academics, transport planners and policy experts from seven countries to explore transport and mobility governance across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Speaking during a virtual address at the opening of the workshop, MMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rosebella Maranga underscored the importance of urban mobility in improving access to employment, education, healthcare and social opportunities.

Prof. Maranga reaffirmed the University's commitment to research that addresses pressing societal challenges and contributes to evidence-informed policy and practice.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Dr. Gladys Nyachieo, who is also the MMU Programme Lead, said the multi-country research initiative provides an important platform for research teams to critically examine how mobility decisions are made and implemented across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The international workshop is part of the three-year, VREF-funded Making and Implementing Decisions in Transport in Sub-Saharan Africa (MID-UTA) research programme.

MMU today hosted a delegation from INTI International University & Colleges, Malaysia, for strategic discussions on advancing international collaboration in education, research, innovation, staff development and student opportunities.

Welcoming the delegation, MMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rosebella Maranga expressed her appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed MMU’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that create meaningful and sustainable opportunities for students, staff and the wider academic community.

“International partnerships are about more than signing agreements; they create opportunities, connect expertise and open new pathways for students, researchers and staff to participate in the global knowledge economy,” she noted.

INTI International University & Colleges, Assistant Vice President, Career Services, Ms. Naomi Fan, emphasized the importance of high-quality education and INTI’s desire to partner with like-minded institutions such as MMU.

She highlighted the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise, strengthen enterprise and enrich learning experiences of students from both institutions.

The two institutions will continue consultations towards a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that is expected to formalize the collaboration.

Earlier today, MMU convened a Staff Prayer Breakfast at the MMU Conference Hall under the theme “God Is Near to Hear Prayer.”

The gathering brought together staff, students and members of the University community, led by the Council Chairman Albert Kochei and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rosebella Maranga, for a time of prayer, thanksgiving, reflection and fellowship.

The sermon was led by Apostle James Mbugua, who called on the MMU community to embrace a life of prayer, reminding us of God’s nearness and His faithfulness to those who call upon Him in truth.

Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) has signed a new ERASMUS+ research mobility partnership with the University of Life Sciences in Romania, opening opportunities for 24 postgraduate students from various faculties within the university to undertake a fully sponsored seven-month research exchange in Europe.

According to MMU Director of Research and Innovation who is also the ERASMUS+ Coordinator Dr. David Wekesa, the new partnership is a major milestone in the university’s commitment to advancing research collaboration and strengthening international academic linkages.
