*SUCCESS TIPS FOR KASNEB EXAMS*

As you do final touches on your KASNEB exam preparation, here are our proven success tips for you.

*Before The Exam Day*

1. Revise All You’ve Read:

It is worthwhile to read through all you’ve read in the past weeks. This is necessary for you to refresh your memory on all topics you’ve covered.

2. Locate Your Exam Centre:

It will be really wrong to put yourself through the stress of locating your exam centre on the day of exam. You are most likely going to be late for the papers, and even end up being overwhelmed and disorganized. We advise that you locate your exam centre few days prior to your exam. That way, you won’t be under any duress on the exam day.

3. Gather Your Exam Materials:

Be fully prepared for the examination by having all the materials that you need to attempt the exam ready. You will need the following:

• 2 Pens

• Ruler

• Calculator (for computation papers)

• Printout of your timetable

• National ID card

*On The Exam Day*

1. Wake Up Early:

Avoid sleeping late the night before. Sleep early so you can rise in the morning early enough. It won’t speak well of you to run late to your professional examination.

2. Eat Breakfast:

No matter how small the food is, ensure you eat something nutritious in the morning. You need to feed your body well so your brain can get adequate glucose to help process the questions. You don’t want to end up feeling weak in the examination room

3. Get To Your Exam Centre Early:

Why arrive late to your exam centre when you can get there earlier? Remember that it pays to be at least 30 minutes early in your exam centre. Lost time can’t be recovered.

4. Stay Calm:

It pays to be calm throughout the examination, especially when you perceive the questions to be difficult. Relax yourself physically during the exam, especially if you notice that you are not thinking well or your muscles are tight. Take deep breaths at intervals. Panicking won’t help.

These success tips are effective in doing your KASNEB examination with ease.

Good luck my people!

A business can make millions in profit and still struggle to pay salaries on time. 💭

How is that possible?

Because profit is not the same as cash.

Working capital management is about keeping the money moving through the business. Cash buys stock, stock becomes sales, sales become customer payments, and those payments return as cash.

The challenge is timing.

If customers take 90 days to pay but suppliers need payment in 30 days, the business may be profitable but still face a cash shortage.

That is why accountants monitor:

📦 Inventory days
👥 Debtor days
🏦 Creditor days

Together, they reveal how efficiently a business converts operations into available cash.

Financial Management is not just about numbers on a statement. It is about understanding what keeps a business alive.

One decision can separate smart tax advice from a serious legal problem. ⚖️

Tax professionals must understand the difference between three concepts that are often confused:

✅ Tax Planning - Using legal strategies to reduce tax liability through proper deductions, allowances and exemptions.
⚠️ Tax Avoidance- Using gaps or loopholes in tax rules to reduce tax. It may be legal, but aggressive arrangements can attract scrutiny.
🚫 Tax Evasion - Deliberately hiding income, falsifying records or misleading KRA. This is illegal and carries serious consequences.

At Advanced CPA level, your role is not just to reduce tax. Your role is to provide ethical, compliant and strategic tax advice.

Starting a business in Kenya? The first decision is not the name or the logo. It is the structure.

The type of business entity you choose affects ownership, liability, control and how the business grows.
🏢 Sole Proprietorship- One owner. Simple to start. But the owner carries unlimited liability.

🤝 Partnership- Two or more people sharing ownership, profits and responsibilities.

🏛️ Private Limited Company (Ltd)- A separate legal entity where owners enjoy limited liability.

📈 Public Limited Company (PLC)- A company that can offer shares to the public and meet higher regulatory requirements.

Understanding these differences is the foundation of making better business decisions.

Would you rather receive KSh 10,000 today or KSh 10,000 one year from now? 💭

Most people choose the same amount, but finance sees them differently.

KSh 10,000 today can be invested, earn returns, and grow. Meanwhile, the same KSh 10,000 in the future may buy less because of inflation and uncertainty.

This is the Time Value of Money.

It helps you understand:
📈 How investments grow through Future Value (FV)
🏦 How future payments are valued today through Present Value (PV)
📊 How businesses evaluate loans and projects

The key idea is simple:
Money has value because of when you have it, not only how much you have.

Economics made EASY 📈

📉 Law of Demand- When the price of a product increases, people usually buy less of it. When the price falls, people buy more.
Think about unga. You are more likely to stock up when it is on offer.

📈 Law of Supply - When prices are high, producers are motivated to supply more because they can earn higher profits. When prices fall, they often supply less.
For example, farmers are generally encouraged to grow more maize when market prices are attractive.

⚖️ Market Equilibrium - Equilibrium is the point where demand and supply meet. At this price, the quantity buyers want matches the quantity sellers are willing to provide, helping avoid shortages and surpluses.

An example
During tomato harvest season, markets are flooded with tomatoes, increasing supply and pushing prices down. During a drought, supply drops, making tomatoes scarcer and prices rise.

Mastering these concepts is the first step toward understanding how markets work and building a strong foundation for CPA studies.

📚 CPA EXAM TIP: DON'T JUST READ—PRACTICE!

One of the biggest mistakes students make is spending hours reading notes but very little time answering questions.

A better approach is:

1.Learn the concept
2 Attempt questions without looking at the answer
3. Mark your work
4. Identify your mistakes
5.Revise the areas you got wrong
6. Try similar questions again

Your mistakes are not proof that you cannot pass.

They show you exactly where you need to improve.

Be honest: What do you spend more time doing?

1️⃣ Reading notes
2️⃣ Answering questions
3️⃣ A bit of both
